Ahhhh… there’s nothing quite
like an organized crime novel written by Bethany-Kris. I tell ya, no one quite
writes these stories of dangerous men and the women that captures their hearts
like Ms. Kris does! Ms. Kris has this way about creating dark and, well,
captivating men (and women really). I don’t know how she can explore this same
genre time and time again… and yet she still gives her readers so many
different stories, characters, and plot. I loved Joe and Liliana! Joe was
completely fascinating to me!
I loved how they both knew from the minute their eyes hit
each other’s that it was it… they were what they had been waiting for. Liliana
isn’t just a mafia princess. She dares to have her own dreams and thoughts
besides the family. She has dreams to dance. It’s so funny to see how sheltered
she was for being the daughter of Lucian. She’s so sheltered and in this sweet
little bubble. Joe is an enforcer. He surrounds himself by shadows and the
dark. I loved Joe… like he was wonderful and Ms. Kris has made him playful and
sexy and so in love with Liliana.
Ms. Kris seriously captivates me… there’s no other way to say
it. The way she creates her characters and tells her stories pulls me in every
time. She’s a master word-weaver. This isn’t just any mafia story… Ms. Kris
pulls the rug out from under your feet a few times. I love that no matter how
many times I read her novels she can still shock me.
The narrator
Daniel James Lewis did a great job. I do wish this was narrated by both a male
and a female narrator but Mr. Lewis did a decent job. I really enjoyed his
accent.
