RELEASE DAY: Living Out Loud by Staci Hart

LIVING OUT LOUD, the next in Staci Hart's Austen Series, is LIVE! I adored this modern love story inspired by Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility. Everything about this book had me smiling and swooning! Hart takes us back to the world of Wasted Words and gives us a love story you will not soon forget!

Publication Date: February 1, 2018
Cover Design: QuirkyBird Designs

When Annie Daschle arrives in New York City, the only thing she can control is her list.

Not her father’s death or the loss of her home. Not the hole in her heart or the defective valve that’s dictated so much of her life. But she can put pen to paper to make a list of all the ways she can live out loud, just like her dad would have wanted.

See the city from the top of the Empire State Building: Check.
Eat hot dogs on the steps of The Met: Check.
Stand in the middle of Times Square: Check.
Get a job at Wasted Words: Check.

Two things not on her list: Greg Brandon and Will Bailey. And just like that, she finds herself caught in the middle of something she can’t find her way out of, with no clear answers and no rules.

List or no list, she realizes she can’t control anything at all, not even her heart.
Not the decisions it makes, and not the moment it stops.

*Standalone contemporary romance Inspired by Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility.*

First can we PLEASE just look this cover? I mean, goodness gracious, I love every single aspect of it. Besides the colors and the font… her smile and his smile… the look on their faces as they look at each other, can we just recognize the fact that these people are real people? She doesn’t look like some fake Barbie, even though she looks gorgeous, she looks real. He looks like a real man. They look like they’ve spend a Sunday hanging out… no shaving, no showering, just lounging in their comfy clothes and spending the day together. I like that thought process, I’m not sure if that was Staci Hart’s hope but it’s how I perceive it. Just like "Wasted Words" and "A Little Too Late"… "Living Out Loud" needs to be on my book shelf with her sisters.

I was so excited for another Staci Hart book. She writes from her soul or at least that’s how it feels to me. How else could her words touch me deep inside my heart? I am in love with the flow of her words and how she writes her stories. Annie and Greg are two characters that I felt an instant like for. Annie was so sheltered. It was a bit fun watching her live in the big city and checking things off her lists. I’m absolutely thrilled to see Greg again. He’s just perfect for Annie. He’s so patient and kind with her. Their journey is beautiful and one-of-a-kind! I almost felt like my child was stepping out on her own with Annie. Hart does a fantastic job of making her characters relatable, of making them people you end up caring for!

Don’t miss this story; it’s just as beautiful as the cover! Staci Hart is an author that should be followed on her writing journey. It’s one that is going to take us far and wide with her at the helm!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Jake McKallister might have been a rock star, but he was no ordinary one. Surviving an unspeakable crime as a young teen had shaped him into a guarded workaholic, and he now lived his life trying to forget. -A vivacious college student embracing life-

When outspoken and fun-loving Casey Caldwell was paired with the famously reserved musician for a friend’s wedding, she was prepared for the worst. What could they possibly have in common? -Their worlds are about to collide-

Despite their obvious differences, Jake and Casey found each other, and her light balanced out his darkness. Would their love be strong enough to survive the weight of his tragic past?

AUDIOBOOK TOUR: Cold Malice (book 8) by Toni Anderson

If you love romantic suspense or if you're a Criminal Minds junkie, you have got to get your hands on Toni Anderson's Cold Justice series! Both incredibly sexy and suspenseful, this series is a must-read. And did you know they're available to listen to on audiobook?

About COLD MALICE

ASAC Steve (Mac) McKenzie is out to prove himself by leading a task force investigating a series of murders in the heart of Washington, DC. His undercover work in an antigovernment compound twenty years earlier is related—as is the sweet, innocent girl he befriended back then. Now that girl is a beautiful woman, and she has something to hide.
Tess Fallon spent a lifetime trying to outrun her family’s brand of bigotry, but someone is threatening her anonymity by using the anniversary of her father’s death to carry out evil crimes and she’s terrified her younger brother is involved. She sets out to find the truth and comes face-to-face with a man she once idolized, a man she thought long dead. As the crimes escalate it becomes obvious the killer has an agenda, and Tess and Mac are running out of time to stop him.
Will the perpetrator use a decades-old dream of revolution to attack the federal government? And will the fact that Tess and Mac have fallen hard for each other give a cold-hearted killer the power to destroy them both?

I was so excited to listen to this series on audio! I struggle looking for what I want a lot with audio books. However, these books are perfectly what I’m looking for. I like my romances to be packed with suspense and mystery. I want intrigue and complete sexiness. I’m a hard person to please because I don’t just want a romance; I want a pulse-pounding situation with people who are sexy, smart, and interesting. I need the full package in audio books. Finding this series was like hitting the audio jackpot for me! I had 9 audio books to listen too… over 80 hours of listening magic!

Mac and Tess are perfect heroes. I love how complex they both are. They were completely electric together! Mac opens Tess up to a real life and some steamy, hot sexy times! Toni Anderson gave us an up-close look at police investigation. It’s interesting to see it with all the technology we have today. It really seems like Anderson does some very thorough research for her books. They are timely and mesh well in our current society. Cold Malice, book 8, was packed with suspense and thrilling action, all with that romance I love.
Narrator, Eric Dove is a superb narrator! His voice is like silk, yet it’s strong and resonating. I loved how clear and concise he spoke. I couldn’t believe the emotion that man can put into his voice… you could feel the passion in Anderson’s words through Dove’s voice. I have to say that I was worried in the earlier books. I don’t normally care for books with dual POVs only having one narrator. It’s hard to do all those voices and put feelings into the words through different people. Dove has a real skill.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with InkSlinger PR. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Combust was nothing short of COMBUSTABLE! I loved every single word of this book. K. Bromberg’s writing is so fluid and smooth. Combust is a story that just flows from the pages straight to your heart. I think this was my first Bromberg novel, and I can’t believe I’ve waited so long. The way she writes… it’s so descriptive and every word is full of feeling. She wrote one of the sexiest sex scenes I have ever read!

“Eyelids heavy and drugged with desire”

… I truly hope we’ve all seen that look on a man’s face before, and not just during sex. It’s the look that can stutter a heart. Beautifully, perfectly said.

So, I’m sure you get it… I loved this book! The writing was perfectly on point. The storyline was fantastic. It broke my heart and was uplifting all in the same. The words really spoke to me about all of our insecurities and what we all struggle with. Whether they are exterior or interior, we all have scars. They make us who we are and are a badge of honor. It’s easier to say than it is to be confident when those said scars are being the focal point. This book takes a close up look to the scars we wear and the ones we hide.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

EXCERPT

Preoccupied with a text on my phone from my agent, I walk into the kitchen and suck in a breath when I come face to back with Grady. He’s standing with his hand on the refrigerator door, head leaned inside, and his back fully exposed to me. It’s broad and strong and scarred immeasurably.

I stare.

I can’t help it. The marks are a dizzying array of dark and light and ridged and smooth. And they’re undeniably burns. Goosebumps chase over my skin as I imagine the pain he must have endured when he got those. I think of his habit of wearing unbuttoned shirts but never going shirtless and the hint of scars just visible above his collar that I never could have imagined led to this roadmap to hell on his back.

A part of me instinctively wants to reach out to touch them, bring some kind of comfort. It sounds ridiculous, even to me, but that doesn’t abate the urge.

“Not pretty, huh? Get a good look while you can.” His voice is gruff as his spine stiffens and body stills, emotion woven through the words.

“Thank God not all of you is pretty. I was beginning to feel majorly insecure having to live with perfection like you,” I say off the cuff, trying to make this situation less awkward. My attempt to settle the sudden tension sparking in the air around us.

“Perfection?” he asks as he turns to face me with a smile that masks the emotion swirling in his eyes.

“Yeah. You have scars. I have mermaid thighs.”

“Mermaid thighs?” He laughs. “What in the world are you talking about?”

“Thighs that touch from the top all the way to my knees.” I shrug as if it doesn’t bug me, as if I’m not highlighting one of the insults Tara threw at me. It’s a whole lot easier to make fun of myself so long as it puts him at ease.

“Do you ever give yourself a break?”

Do you?” I ask the question, sparking a silent battle of wills as we stare at each other and wonder what to say next about the other’s insecurities. Coming up empty, I shift gears. “I think there is some type of rule about how many abs are fair for a guy to have when the rest of us are just struggling to find one of them.”

His smile rings more genuine as he steps toward me, and I step back, my hips leaning against the counter now.

“Is that so?” His voice lowers as his eyes flick to my lips and then back up. “I’m sure you have some under your shirt there.”

Why does the simple action make it seem so hard to swallow?

He takes another step.

“What are you building outside?”

“A playroom.”

A nervous chuckle falls from my lips as I think of all of the versions of playrooms I’ve read about in my romance books. My cheeks stain red as I imagine Grady with a flogger in one hand standing beside a St. Andrew’s Cross.

“A playroom?”

“Yeah.” He takes a step closer so we’re breathing the same air, his voice husky enough to cause every part of my body to grow alert. “A playroom. You know . . . a pool table. Foosball. A real man cave.”

I exhale a shaky sigh, suddenly more than aware that he’s so close, shirtless, sweaty, and smelling like sun and soap mixed together. But it’s his eyes that make my thoughts falter. There’s an intensity to them I don’t expect from the perpetually cheerful Grady Malone.

“Ah, that kind of playroom . . .” But my words trail off as he steps even closer and braces his hands on the counter on either side of me. I can hear his intake of breath. The music floating in from outside. The pound of my pulse in my ears.

“Hey, Dyl?”

“Yes?” Our eyes hold, my lips fall lax.

“I need you to open up.”

What?” I question as his hand brushes against my hip and his fingers pull on the drawer handle I’m standing in front of.

“I need the bottle opener. You’re standing in front of the drawer it’s in.” His lips spread into a full-fledged grin as I scramble away from the counter and, of course, run smack dab into the hardness, all six foot plus of him.

And then I rebound off him again in a flustered state that has him laughing and me stuttering. “Sorry. I wasn’t—I didn’t . . .” His arms hold on to my biceps to steady me, which prompts me to look up and meet his eyes.

“We need to stop meeting like this,” he murmurs, the heat of his breath hitting my lips.

“We do.” Brilliant, Dylan. Freaking brilliant response. “I’ve gotta . . . I’ve gotta get back to . . . to writing.”
