After eighteen months in the Mediterranean, newlyweds Polly and Leo Xanthus can barely keep their hands to themselves. The Greek isles have warmed their skin and hearts, but each longs for a life where they never have to hide from the mafia that forced them into seclusion.
The Marcello crime family is on the brink of going under. With their revenue streams drying up and the feds ever-present on their tail, aging crime boss Alfonso Balivino looks to steal a diamond owned by his one-time boss, Kostas Xanthus to fund the family.
Now, Polly and Leo will be forced to leave their unknown location and find their way home to New Orleans before the Marcello family murders again, forcing them and the ring on Polly’s hand out of hiding.
But the diamond is more than a stone. It’s a puzzle. A password to something monumental. And when Polly and Leo discover it’s the key to riches far greater than anyone could imagine, the race is on—not only to stay alive but to stop a heroin empire.

So this is my second Kris Calvert book
and while I enjoyed it, I can say it wasn’t as amazing as Jane Doe. However, its
redeeming quality for me was that it was a good mafia type book with a slow
burn build up to the crescendo. I love books that work up to the finale and not
swap back and forth, here and there!
My favorite genre is romance with
suspense in it. This book was full of both! Our sexy ex-FBI agent needs to
return to his hometown but after faking his death he can’t just jump the closest
flight back to New Orleans. This is where the suspense kicked up a few notches!
Leo and Polly find themselves running through secret passageways and hiding.
Secrets come out, lies are untold, and hidden treasures bring the dangerous
situation up a few notches!
I received an ARC of this book with the
hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a
review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
