From bestselling author Carolyn Arnold comes the next page-turning thriller in the Detective Madison Knight series, POWER STRUGGLE (November 28, 2017). The hit man who failed to kill Madison ten months earlier is back to finish the job, but she is not going down without a fight.
It’s been nearly a year since Madison almost died at the hands of Russian Mafia assassin Constantine Romanov, and she hasn’t seen a trace of him since he escaped police custody and fled to Russia. But a new murder investigation has Madison on edge with suspicions of Romanov’s return.
The man who killed her grandfather has been found dead, and the victim’s connections to the mob are indisputable. As Madison attempts to stay objective with such a personal case, her fears begin to manifest. Then a threatening let- ter from Romanov arrives. He’s out for blood, and not just Madison’s. The hit man is bringing her loved ones into the crosshairs in his desire for revenge.
With the body count rising and Romanov still at large, Madison races against the clock to protect her family. But she’s not fast enough, and her sister, Chelsea, goes missing. Madison knows exactly what that means: Romanov is summon- ing her for a final showdown. And they won’t both survive.
A captivating and eerily realistic thriller, POWER STRUGGLE illustrates the strength and determination of a detective in harm’s way. Carolyn Arnold’s signature compassion for law enforcement and accuracy with police procedure shines through the action and drama of Madison Knight’s fight for survival.

I’ve read a few of the
Madison Knight mysteries and have loved them! I’d really like to go back and
read all of them! Even though they can be read as a standalone, I know I’m
missing stuff. They seem to be linked and some things carry over to the next books
so I’d recommend reading them in order from beginning to end… even though I
haven’t done that myself! I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I read
all of them in order.
Carolyn Arnold has
recently turned into one of my favorite police procedural-type books. She
writes so gritty… it’s exactly what you would expect from hard detectives that
are way too overworked. In Power Struggle she packs it full of suspense with
these hide and seek thriller. Knight is searching for one messed up assassin!
Knight shows a bit more of her human side in Power Struggle. She’s battling
this twistedly-brillant assassin and it’s personal this time. She’s more
reckless than ever and she has this carelessness about her that’s putting her
(and her family) on a dangerous line… but man, it makes a superb suspense
novel!
Arnold writes perfect
characters that we can all connect with. She really creates a real person in
Madison Knight. I think we can all relate to how she handles some of these
situations… her nightmares and the PTSD makes it so she’s more human than super
cop! Arnold weaves a terrific story that unwinds bit-by-bit right in front of
our eyes, she gives us these little teases and we think we might have it… but
it’s never quite right! I loved the villain… I know, silly, but a good bad guy
is hard to come by! Arnold had me flying through the pages with how consistent and
fast-paced it was!
I received an ARC of this
book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to
leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my
opinions.
