Book Blurb:

Imogen

There is no way we can still love and cherish one and other.

When I married Theo Walsh, the rough, bearded townie who worked construction on my family’s summer house, I’d found my happily ever after.

That was before the fighting.
Before the jealousy.
Before the infertility.

We’ll be divorced long before death does us part.

But to secure my place in the family dynasty, there is just one more hoop I have to jump through. And I need him to do it.

Faking the marriage we once thrived in will gut me.
Especially with the secret I’m carrying.

Theo

I would have sacrificed for her until the end of time.

My job.
My home.
My happiness.

I’d given it all up to marry her. That’s how much I loved Imogen Weston, the daughter to one of the world’s richest families.

From the day we met, I’d done nothing but try to live up to the man she expected to be with. And now, I was done.

Sure, I’d complete this one final ask of hers, even if it destroyed me.

But I’ve made her promise the one thing that might save me. She swore that after she got everything she ever wanted, she wouldn’t look back.

I made my wife vow to leave me forever.

Wow, just... I’ve read every single one of Carrie Aarons books. Some have been funny, some haunting, some emotional, some tense and a bit suspenseful... they are always great stories with layered meanings. Down We’ll Come, Baby pretty much follows this same rules, great story with layered meanings, however, it was so raw and heartbreaking. It made me feel anger and, I actually felt like I disliked a character. I’ve never really felt displeasure or a character of hers before but I really didn’t like Imogen. She was so weak-minded and superficial. She seriously did not deserve Theo.

Are you wondering why I continued reading a book where I didn’t relate or like one of the main characters? I don’t feel like I had to like her when I was so gone for him. I think this book really shows us that life isn’t perfect. People aren’t perfect. We all make mistakes and honestly, not everyone is likable. One of the things I enjoy best about Mrs. Aarons books is that they always feel plausible. So yes, Imogen might come off as incredibly self-centered and self-absorbed... but can’t we all be?

Down We’ll Come, Baby is just what I have come to expect from Carrie Aarons writing. It’s deep and meaningful. She gives us stories that make us pause and ponder on the situations. This is really one of the deepest, rawest, and must angstful feeling books that Carrie Aarons has written. She really touches on so many things... love, loss, family, expectations, different lifestyles, having children... just every day obstacles. Aarons writing is gripping and flows so smoothly. The way she describes her scenes and set up the story just seemed to flow. As always, I can’t wait to see the next place Carrie Aarons will take me!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
