MY REVIEW:

I’ve been waiting months for this book and it didn’t disappoint. I was lucky enough to stumble upon Jaynes’ other books one weekend and that’s all it took for me to know she had a life-long follower! This book is what every book lover wants from their favorite author....they want to be caught up on the character’s life. Essentially, that’s what we get here but it’s so much more than what Allie has been up too since Ugly Young Thing.

Jaynes has a way of writing that just pulls you in. I couldn’t put it down and just like her other two books, I finished this one in record time. DSAW switches point of view throughout the book, we even get to see the life and thoughts of a 4 year old and it was dead on!! I’m pretty good at figuring out the outcomes of books but this one threw me. I could probably say that I had it half right, there’s a twist to it that you won’t see coming! I ended the book wanting more…I think Allie could use a love story now!

Book 3 isn’t as “dark” as the other 2. Some may like that but I did miss it in this book. I think that if people are going to kill and/or hurt others that it is going to be dark! I hope Jaynes goes back to the dark side!! I like books that make me scared of the dark!! I’m looking forward to where Jaynes goes next. She’s been among my favorite 5 authors since her first book. I can’t wait to see where we go after this series or even if she decides to do more with it.

Well done Jaynes!! Totally another 5 star!!
I received an ARC of this from NetGalley, the publishers Thomas & Mercer, as well as Jennifer Jaynes in exchange for an honest review.

MY REVIEW:

This book was seriously amazing! Jaynes has done a brilliant job capturing Allie's journey along with all the hardships she endures. This is a girl I feel for and getting in her head was a terrifyingly, twisty road! She was seriously her own worst enemy and I wanted to help her! I knew the teenage years were hard but they have nothing on Allie!! The end...well I could not even imagine that ending! Shocking, to say the least!!

Jaynes does a wonderful job of misleading the readers, letting their minds wonder to characters that may or may not be guilty. You are definitely going to be shocked at the ending. It finally pieces everything together. I really think this book gives you a type of closure on Allie. Everything you want answered is but Jaynes doesn’t leave her book lovers satisfied….she leaves us wanting more…more Allie, more Strangers, just more background on everything!

Mrs. Jaynes...I would LOVE to read about that mom's story! How disturbed she must have been!
Thank you for giving me a very enjoyable weekend reading both your books in 2 days! I’d also be interested in hearing about Miss Bitty’s life.
Well done Jaynes!! Totally another 5 star!!

MY REVIEW:

I stumbled upon this book on Friday night and finished it by Saturday when I realized there was a book 2. I ended up spending my whole weekend in the land Jennifer Jaynes created. I attribute Jaynes with my new found love of suspense/psychological thrillers. She quickly made her way into my top 5 favorite authors…with only three total books; I’d say that is an amazing accomplishment! Fans of mystery novels and tension-filled psychological thrillers will genuinely enjoy reading "Never Smile at Strangers."

I could not put this book or the sequel Ugly Little Thing down. They were both wonderful books that captivated you. I found that I felt so sorry for the killer in this story, he/she was obviously a very abused child; mentally, physically, and sexually.

In her first book she tackles a very serious subject matter, mental illness. I think it’s done beautifully. There are quite a few characters in this book but nothing that’s too hard to keep up with. The characters are people you can feel for and relate to. I’ve seen several of her reviews that say this is a “dark” book or it had too much sex or vulgarity. I could not disagree more; there wasn’t one single part in this book or the others for that matter that took it too far for me. I think when you pick up a thriller and/or psychological suspenseful book, you should understand that it’s suppose to get your heart rate up, it’s suppose to scare you. It did and it was perfect!!!

Well done Jaynes!! This was a superb debut novel!! I’ve recommended it to several people! Totally a 5 star!!
