Viktor
My parents told me I skated before I walked. When I was eighteen I was drafted into the N.H.L third overall, playing in Los Angeles—the city of dreams. What more could I ask for? I played hard, but eventually, I partied even harder.
Five years later I was traded a week after I entered rehab. There was no time for anything except my health and making sure I’d come out on top. I had to be better. There wasn’t another option.

Five years later I was traded a week after I entered rehab. There was no time for anything except my health and making sure I’d come out on top. I had to be better. There wasn’t another option.
One of the rules of recovery was ‘don’t fall in love’ and I made it a top priority. She was off limits in every single way.

When you grow up surrounded by hockey players you know one thing for sure, I was never going to settle down with one. Heck, I didn’t even know what icing was. I was too busy climbing the corporate ladder, becoming one of the most successful realtors in New York City. I wasn’t interested in dating or anything that got in my way.

First, he was my client and then he became my friend.
One night, one decision, one act can derail everything.
When push comes to shove, I’m only certain that, This is Wild.

Every. Single. Time!!! Every time I read a Natasha Madison
book it becomes my favorite. However, I haven't felt this in love with one of
her books since last year when I read Perfect Love Story. The story of
addiction and overcoming the causes and effects of it is something that hits me
right in my heart. I'm thoroughly impressed with the way Mrs. Madison put this
story together.
One of the things that is hardest for authors to get correct for a person struggling through addiction is the amount of self loathing we feel. The obsession for whatever our medium is. So to get through an addiction is to completely get to know yourself again as this damaged and insecure person. This is the major reason for forgoing relationships while early in recovery. So Viktor and Zoe are a serious slow burn... or friends to lovers.
I'm gonna be completely real here... I'm a recovering addict as well. About 7 years ago I hit my absolute lowest. Now I was a functioning addict... working over 40 hours every week and taking care of a young child and an ill husband. I've been completely clean for 5 years. Books and blogging has gotten me through so much. So when I read a story where it seems like an author gets the struggle or understands the plight... it just hits me. I cried, no I sobbed through parts of This is Wild. It hit me. Hard. Years later and I still struggle with who I was during those times.
I really have no clue how to write this review... I know, I know... I've already rambled through 3 paragraphs. This is Wild has taken over the throne for my top book of 2019. I felt everything in these words... not just this understanding and a connection with Viktor but the story in its entirety. Madison spreads hope when this illness is creating such havoc in our society and lightness to everything she creates. This is a must read for anyone who loves a deep story with a so much soul.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...
