They say it’s blind.
That you don’t choose who you fall in love with.
They say it creeps up on you when you least expect it.
They say it doesn’t let go.
I wish it were that easy.
I’ve been in love before, and it happened the way they said it would.
For a while, it was easy and full of bliss.
Until he uttered those damn three words, and all hell broke loose.
I don’t blame him for leaving.
Love is a beast, waiting to devour you at the first sign of weakness.
That’s what they don’t say.
It’s been four years, and a lot has changed.
I never expected to see Jake again, but here I am, staring into those gorgeous eyes like they still belong to me.
See, I’m Finley May Norwood, the girl who pushes love away when it becomes too much. Now, Jake’s engaged to someone else, and I’m too late.
If only my heart could accept that.
It simply doesn’t.
Love. Be damned.

I’m always so happy when I find
new-to-me authors and I enjoy their books and especially connect with their
writing style. The Evolution of Us by D. Nichole King made me not only fall for
this author’s story and writing style but she has earned a new follower in me!
I adored this story! I ended up being consumed and saying up to 2am reading on
a work night… yeah, it was that addictive!
Finley is so darn relatable. I
think we all have this head strong presence while getting through high school
and college but once the real world begins it’s hard to find the track you want
to be on. Finley hasn’t found her track so she’s just making all these boring
passes and stops. It’s like she’s waiting for life to find her, not her going
out and grab it. Jake, however, Jake reminds her what it’s like to live and to
find that passion in life. They were so darn perfect… I was totally their
cheerleader in the background… I felt like I was hurrying turtles to the finish
line. They get there at their own pace; it doesn’t matter what harassment you
hurl at them.
I was so pleased with Ms.
King’s storytelling. Plus the surprises in this book… there was just so much I
didn’t see coming until it smacked me in the head. The characters in this book
were so relatable and I just adored Ali! Everyone needs a bestie like her… or
at least I do! The characters were really able to feel alive and there was so
much feeling put into the words, into the twists. Great read!
I received an ARC of this book
with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to
leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my
opinions.

Author Bio
I'm pretty sure I drink too much Pepsi. I'm also pretty sure that somedays it's what keeps me sane. Well, Pepsi and writing, that is.
I'm a dreamer, an inspirer. I find beauty in weakness, brokenness, and heartbreak. In life, and joy, and happiness. These moments don't define us, but the choices we make in these moments do.
I write about these moments. About the choices we make and the paths we tread. About the circumstances that make us who we are and the experiences that will lead us to who we will become.
I write about life. Love. Pain. And hope.
