I have been waiting and wanting (perhaps even salivating) for Penny and Damon’s story. I am completely THRILLED that I get 2.5 books out of them. From the quick novella of The Prince to The King, I know their story’s conclusion in The Queen will be intensely, shocking and hauntingly-beautiful!! Back to what I’ve actually read… (if you can’t tell I am impatiently waiting for The Queen now)… Skye Warren has developed an intriguing and awe-inspiring group of people that just entrap you... I just NEED to know everyone’s story.

Penny and Damon are so much more than I was ever expecting! Penny… oh Penny, you brave, strong girl! She seems so wise, so old for her 15 years. My heart aches for her. Penny has struggled through her life and always has had to be the adult even when she has a fully capable father. Unfortunately for Penny, her father doesn’t seem to love anything more than the deck of cards that has cost him everything. Now he has literally put Penny on the table. Luckily for her, she’s worth more to Damon. Oh Damon, you surprise me… when it comes to Penny, you wear your heart on your sleeves. I love the protection he immediately feels for Penny and their instantaneous bond. He is so much more loyal than I ever imagined in The Pawn, The Knight, or The Castle. I didn’t expect to see this side of him. The King also gives us another look at Gabriel and Avery… which makes me giddy because I love seeing my favorite characters from different angles. We get a side of Avery that we didn’t see in the other books due to Penny’s closeness with her. It’s just fascinating!

Jonathon Scott what an evil, sadistic man he is. He seems to get pure enjoyment out of causing, not just physical, but mental anguish to all the people around him, family or foe, he doesn’t differentiate. He’s the worst (and best) kind of villain… you just don’t feel an ounce of pity for him… nothing but contempt is what I feel for that depraved man… see, Skye Warren has a perfect way of developing characters. She creates these immense feelings inside of me… even eliciting these vengeful feelings in me!

Skye Warren gives us a much more 3D viewpoint on everyone. This is one of her best books yet. Warren’s writing is completely flawless… her descriptions take you there… they horrify you and sicken you. Skye Warren is the master of dark romance angst! She takes you to the point of wanting to scream and cry and toss your kindle to staring in dumbfoundness… she’s a master at torturing the broken-hearted!
