Sigh…
I always feel so sad when I finish a Bethany-Kris book. She transports me to
another place and another time unlike any other author. She creates these
perfectly-horrible stories where you can’t help but fall for the hero and route
for them no matter what. I LOVED Conner in this story. I mean, he’s the perfect
product of his upbringing but… is he?
I
also cannot tell you how refreshing it is to get just the guys POV. I always
wonder what goes on in their heads and we get to know in this book! We get this
perfect build up over Conner’s life… from childhood to his current 26 years.
Evelyn was a wonderful heroine and I just adored her. This story was about two
people finding each other in the ruthless world of the mafia. I loved watching
them “become” watching them find themselves. It was a heartbreakingly-breath-taking
story!
I
tell ya, no one can tell a mafia love story like Bethany-Kris. There’s so much
action and detail that you feel like you are there. If you haven’t read a Kris
story before… this is a perfect one to start with! It’s a standalone. It’s also
a beautiful story that has a deeper meaning embedded in it. This is just a
unique story of two broken people searching for something more.
