“Five to one—Macey. Is that the fight in Vegas?”
The bookie nodded. “It is.”
“I heard those odds are actually one to five.”
A sly grin spread over Nathaniel’s lips. “You would be correct.”
“You’re purposely misleading a client?”
“I hate when he wastes my fucking time—minimum bet is actually three-hundred. Trust that in five minutes or so, he’ll call back with a proper apology, I’ll offer to halve the bet to five-hundred, and he’ll pay with the odds I told him to. He’ll lose, and it’ll be a good lesson for him about how to speak to me the next time he calls. And … he will call again. They always do.”
Yep.
And this right here was why Andino let Nathaniel get away with some of his shit. The guy knew what he was doing, and he did it extremely well.
“And don’t go starting shit with any of the fucking young ones in here, yeah?” Nathaniel said, nodding at the table where Andino had stolen the chair from. “I actually like this joint, Andi. I might want to come back.”
Andino laughed. “Yeah, I’ll try.”
The bookie only sighed.
“On your issue—the lawyer—I cleaned it up. I was able to retrieve seventy percent of the debt through other means.”
For the first time since Andino sat down, Nathaniel’s cool demeanor cracked as his gaze narrowed, and a scowl fettered over his mouth. “That so?”
“It is. It’s not like you to get mixed up with someone who can’t pay their debts. What happened there?”
“He developed a habit, I guess.”
“That all?”
Nathaniel sucked in air through his teeth. “Favor to a friend, maybe.”
Ah.
“That makes more sense,” Andino noted.
“Lesson learned.”
“You know the deal, huh?”
The bookie shrugged. “If you have to step in, and you don’t retrieve one-hundred percent of the debt, then my cut drops back to ten percent. Yeah, I got it, Andi.”
“You do good business, Nathaniel. Keep doing that.”
Nathaniel didn’t even seem to hear Andino—his attention was focused on something else over Andino’s shoulder, and the widening of his eyes before a low whistle split through his lips cut through the noise in the room.
“Damn, girl,” Nathaniel muttered appreciatively, “it’s been a hot minute since you danced, hasn’t it?”
What in the hell?
Turning to see what had the bookie distracted was probably Andino’s biggest mistake of the evening. He couldn’t afford to be off his game when he was doing business, even if it was with someone he trusted, but the second he saw her on the stage dancing, that’s exactly where Andino found himself.
Off balance.
Stunned.
And entirely stupid, too.
He hadn’t seen the woman since that day he walked Snaps in the park. And she certainly didn’t look like she did that day, either.
Then, she’d been wearing running clothes, with her blonde hair streaked in bright colors pulled up into a pony, and little makeup.
Tonight, she wore a black leather body suit that was made out of criss-crossed strips that covered her body from her ankles to her neck. The strips of leather strategically covered any part of her that someone might really want to see—but it still left enough to look at that there was nothing for the imagination to wonder about.
As she did a quick spin around the pole by using one hand to keep herself steady against the metal, he got a peek at how the strips of leather fell below the curves of her ass, and the G-string she wore under it. And the colorful spread of multi-colored stars tattooed across her back, and down her spine.
Jesus.
He suddenly found himself to be ridiculously interested in just how many stars he might be able to count on her body if given the chance.
Those patent black pumps on her feet had to be at least six inches tall, but every step she took made her body sway in the best fucking way possible.
She was soft curves.
Toned lines.
Creamy skin.
Covered in ink.
Black hair pin-straight down to her sexy-as-fuck ass.
The black hair was new.

Yes... yes... yes! I just love Andino! He’s so strong and fierce. I can’t help but love his sheer determination. He doesn’t mess around when he wants something and he wants Haven. Vow was the perfect conclusion to Andino and Haven’s story. Bethany-Kris keeps getting better and better with every book. I couldn’t get through this quickly enough. Vow had all the twists and turns that I’ve come to love... I can’t say expect because I just never know what to expect from her. I do know I’m going to enjoy the story but I never know where I’m going. 

Sigh... these characters were just everything! I felt for Haven so much! She felt everything and was in so much pain, so hurt. But I loved her sheer strength, she was no weakling, she was a strong woman. Really just what you’d expect and see for Andino. They were so insanely hot together, the steam level in this book was turned up way up high! I really delighted I. Andino’s sneaky ways. He seriously keeps people on their feet. I just really enjoyed being in his mind and the way he planned and laid things out. 

Haven and Andino’s story is exactly why Bethany-Kris is the queen on organized crime stories. She gives us these fierce and strong men who meet their perfect matches in these strong women. Kris brings the heat and steam. I’m really crossing my fingers for some extra outtakes or a holiday novella for this couple. I don’t feel like I got a real ending... I mean, there was a perfect conclusion and all my questions were answered but I wanted a bit more time to see this couple together. This didn’t really affect my rating since the story was beyond amazing and I just wanted more. Who doesn’t when the story and couple were so fantastic!!

VOW by Bethany-Kris

“That looks like it hurts,” she said, gesturing to his injury.
It was the only thing she could think to say.
“The Vicodin with whiskey chaser is starting to kick in, actually,” Andino muttered, glancing down at his arm. “Small fucking miracles.”
Haven laughed, but it came out strained, and probably a little too bitter. She couldn’t even control the rush of emotions that swept over her, never mind the anger that was still ever-present no matter what her stupid heart wanted.
She couldn’t escape this feeling.
She didn’t want to feel like this at all.
“Why are you here?” Andino asked.
She looked back at him, and shook her head. “I heard what happened.”
“I’m fine.”
Clearly.
He just completely missed the point.
Her anger swelled again. “You don’t get it, do you?”
“Get what?”
“That I give a shit about you, I guess? I actually care, Andino. I wanted to make sure you were okay, but since the hospital said you voluntarily checked yourself out, that wasn’t good enough for me. I had to know. So, here I am. I don’t know. It’s pointless, right? I shouldn’t be here anyway.”
Haven was glad she voiced that thought—she shouldn’t be here. It wasn’t a matter of wanting to be, but a matter of what was best for her. Of course, she wanted to be here. That didn’t mean it was good for her.
Before she could overthink anymore than she already was, Haven turned to leave with a quiet, “Sorry, Andino. I’m glad you’re okay.”
She didn’t even get the chance to grab the doorknob. She didn’t see him coming for her until his hand was locked around her arm, and he’d spun her back around fast enough to make the room spin in her vision. Her gaze cleared in just enough time to see the emotion darkening his features before he closed all distance between them, and kissed her.
There was no hesitance in his kiss, and no wariness. Like he knew the moment his lips touched hers, she was going to respond just how he wanted her to. His mouth moved over hers in such a familiar way that she couldn’t help herself but kiss him back. A deep, aching kiss that left her lips tingling, and her body weaker than ever.
He could own her with a kiss.
He took her rationale away.
Worries, anger, and control … all gone.
All he needed was a fucking kiss.
There was a part of her that wanted to step back from him, and reevaluate. She knew that was the smart part of her brain whispering through the haze of nostalgia and need. It was the slip of his hand curving around the back of her neck to pull her impossibly closer that silenced the little voice.
Haven reached back for him—her hands slipping over his naked chest to get more of his skin on hers. His tongue teased hers; a silent promise if there ever was one. She always thought he kissed a lot like he fucked. Deep, and fast, and a little wild. Like he couldn’t get enough, but he was determined to get what he wanted, regardless.
And when he kissed her like that, then all of her ability to think clearly was quickly lost. Like now.
All she could focus on was him, and the way his hand tightened on her neck. His growing erection pressed against her body which only served to make her wet. She could already feel that dampness in her panties.
Andino pulled away from her mouth with a ragged breath. Those green eyes of his flashed with something dark and wild. “Upstairs, then?”
How simple that question was.
It should be an easy no from her.
Let this go.
Leave it alone.
Haven was still humming—still high from his kiss, and the promise of what was yet to come. Oh, she knew what would be coming. And that was a large part of the reason why she was quick to nod and say, “Yeah, upstairs.”
