RELEASE DAY: Too Bad So Sad by Lani Lynn Vale

Title: Too Bad So Sad
Series: The Simple Man
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: August 8, 2018

Tyler Cree has never been good at the whole look and don’t touch thing.

From the moment he was old enough to walk on his own two feet, he’s been looking for trouble.

Trouble comes in many forms…quite a few of those forms being the female persuasion.

Tyler knows what girls want—a bad boy. And he has the bad boy image down pat.

Ex-military—check.

Hot cop—double check.

A bike between his legs and a devil may care attitude—oh, yeah.

All the girls want him, yet none of them will have him—at least not all of him, anyway. A certain appendage they can have all they want. His heart, however, is not up for grabs. The useless organ inside his chest was broken and battered, mutilated by the one woman he thought would keep it safe.

Spoiler alert: she ripped it to shreds and set fire to the pieces.

To protect himself, Tyler keeps everyone at arm’s length, and never lets anyone get too close.

Then Reagan Rose Alvarez barrels into his life, and trespasses on not only his property, but straight into his abused heart. One glance is all it takes, and he’s suddenly thinking about things he hasn’t thought for quite some time—thoughts that a man like him should never have about a woman like her.

One moment of weakness is all it takes, and suddenly he has no other choice but to go on the offensive.

Keeping her is the only other option now.

Turns out, his heart isn’t as broken as he thought it was.

The only problem is, now the little she-devil holds it in the palm of her hands, and she has no clue just how much power she holds.

Besides Too Bad So Sad having just the best frigging book name, I’m totally in love. I have a major crush, yes, with a fictional character... but it isn’t what you think. I want Reagan!! She’s just the best female. I just adore her personality. I can so relate to her anti-social tendencies. She’s just so darn smart, so darn funny... I loved being inside that cleaver little mind of hers!!I just couldn’t get enough of her. The characters Ms. Vale crests are some of my favorite! The banter and fun between Tyler and Reagan was so entertaining... I just couldn’t get enough of them two!

Ms. Vale’s Simple Man series will keep everyone entertained from beginning to end. TBSS left me in a fit of giggles with how very different Tyler is from Reagan. He’s so much more reserved to Reagan’s private, yet fun and upbeat. They might be opposites but they compliment each other. This book is one of my favorites in the series. It had s steady pace and it just reads like real life. I wish the twist wasn’t as similar as the previous book with Cora and Coke in “Ain’t Doin It.” It felt like a bit of a cop-out after such an amazing story. However, I still liked this book a lot! I’ll continue reading Ms. Lani Lynn Vane’s stories! She still creates fantastically-relatable stories that are fun and so creative with great people that I want to be friends with!!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

You want some?

She snarls those words at him with barely concealed hostility the moment he arrives at her window to ask for her license and registration.

After a few choice words, he lets her go with not one ticket, but three.

Next time she should check the attitude at the door and realize that he’s a cop, and just doing his job.

Come get some.

Fast forward a week, and he’s still unable to think about anything else but her and her bad attitude—oh, and those sexy lips, angry eyes, and her promise to make his life hell.

Knowing he should stay away, he takes a step back and tries not to think about anything that has to do with those long legs, and that mouth that could be used for much better things than spewing venom.

Then she makes a mistake.

At an interview, she rattles off a random number to use as a reference for a job that she desperately needs, and that number just happens to be Johnny’s.

She’ll regret being so rude, and one day she’ll think twice when she decides to throw attitude toward a man like him.

Vowing to make her life hell, he decides to have a little fun.

Never get enough.

What he doesn’t expect is to fall for her.

The more Johnny learns about June, the deeper he digs his hole. Soon, he doesn’t know which way is up, and he’s just fine with that.

Over time, he learns that not everyone bothers to dig past her prickly demeanor and get to the woman that lives deeper.

When one too many citizens of Hostel, Texas tries to back her against the wall, he’s had enough.

After all, you don’t mess with what’s his.

Well cuff me, Mister Officer! Holy hell this cover is HAWT! Oh what’s that?!?! You need a full body search * rubs hands together * let’s do this!! Seriously though, that cover photo and the graphic is pure perfection… Bravo, to your cover designer Lani Lynn Vale! I am thrilled that Ms. Vale seems to produce a book at least every other month because I can’t get enough of her books! Her Simple Man series talks to my… lower mass!

The characters Ms. Vale creates are just plain epic! They are so eclectic and so darn likable… I never know if I’m going to love them of loathe them but I know Ms. Vale is going to make me feel my feelings to extreme. June was just off the chart of amazing. How she got that way I have no idea considering the fact that she was surrounded by small-minded and oblivious people. I just adore how sweet and pure she is. Johnny is her match! They are just made for each other… yeah, yeah, it’s a book they were literally made for each other, but in my mind these people are living. Ms. Vale does that. She brings her stories to life and gives them a heartbeat. Plus, I mean JOHNNY and JUNE, one of the most iconic couples ever!

I spent so much of this book either swooning from pure unadulterated lust for the #HottieCop or in absolute hatred for this locals who I want to handle. Bullying comes in all ages, races, and ethnicity. There were parts that got me so riled up by mistreatment and pure hatefulness that I wanted to go all Johnny Cash on them. Ok, ok… I’m not going in anymore to the story. Ms. Vale does a superb job getting me invested and my feelings going high! I can’t wait to get more stories about these Simple Men!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
