Heath

Publication Date: October 25, 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Read for FREE in KindleUnlimited:

A modern telling of a classic tale...

This isn’t a typical love story. This is a story of what happens when love is so powerful and all-consuming that it has the ability to destroy everyone involved. It’s definitely not pretty and it’s certainly not a fairytale, but it’s their story and it couldn’t be told any other way.

I think sometimes when things get super hyped up it’s hard to live up to something so high. I was jonesing like an addict for Heath... I couldn’t sleep, I had the sweats, my heart raced... ok, ok, I’m exaggerating a bit but I was really pumped to read this story, so you get what I’m sayin’. Imagine my surprise when I kept falling asleep through the first section. I mean, this is K. Webster for goodness sake! My mouth is normally hanging open during her books not nodding off. However, I hung in and ever so slowly it got better and better. I guess I should mention that I haven’t read a Nikki Ash book before this one so I’m not really sure I could pin-point where one author stops and the other begins but to me that just shows that they worked well together. It also makes me curious of Nikki’s books since I always enjoy the way K. Webster tells her stories.

The second part of Heath was the best section of the book for me. It sucked me in just like I was hoping all along for. No longer was I nodding off. Now, this is going to be an odd statement for me, I love the way K. Webster brings the most outlandish thing to her story. They seem to get crazier and more deranged the longer she writes. However, I almost felt like the authors were trying to one-up each other on the sexy scenes. It seemed like there was a good chunk of the book where storyline was lacking and sex was all there was. Now, I’m no prude. I love me a good sexy dirty scene just like the other erotica, romance lovers but, I do want a bit more story with my sex.

I know, if you’re reading this review you’re thinking well why the hell is she giving it 4 stars? It wasn’t all a bad story, not in the least. Those were the bits off for me. Catrina and Heath were really interesting characters and I really enjoyed seeing them grow and evolve over the years. I enjoyed the blending of the classic Wuthering Heights into Heath. The writing was flawless and descriptive... so much more descriptive than I needed in some areas. Overall, it was a bit hit or miss for me personally... some areas I loved super hard and some I disliked a lot! I’d still recommend Heath to certain people.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Dishonored is a book that you’ll need to take a breath every once and a while. It’s a brutal story. Now, if you’re a Bethany-Kris fan, and you should be, than you’ll know she often creates brutally, harsh stories. She breaks it down and gives you a real story with all kinds of feelings and heat. What I love the most about Ms. Kris’s stories... the brutality of the men and the women who love them... heck, they’re often just as brutal as the men!!

Now Caesar is hard and crass, aloft and mean, but Aria challenges him and they dance to their own tune, albeit a bit of a dark one! The twist or backstory in this was... gah... I still can’t even handle it! I kind of understand Caesar’s attitude. I was so pulled into Dishonored. It’s a bit darker than I’m used to from Ms. Kris... I’m definitely not complaining! I loved the blood, the anger, the darker side she gave us of the world they live in. It was also so full of heat and promise between two unlikely characters.

Ms. Kris continues to give her readers shockingly perfect stories. She’s thoroughly entertaining. Her heat packs a punch and is insanely hot!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

SYNOPSIS

Sex is his weapon.
Power is her drug.
Caesar Accardo is gasoline. Mostly harmless while stable, but Aria holds the match to set the dishonored Cosa Nostra prince on fire in more ways than one. And if he burns down everything in his path because of it—so be it.
The problem is … she just wasn’t prepared for all of him.
Aria De Rose is a hurricane. Amazing from afar, but destructive up close. Caesar keeps getting pulled into the Camorra queen’s plans in her effort to gain power, but he’s a better player than she knows.
The thing is … women like her are the reason why rules are meant to be broken.
Philadelphia isn’t ready for game these two are playing—the sacrifices they make might not be worth it in the end, and someone will always lose in a war.
They’re broken, so very vicious, and they are not the good guys. But for every villain in the world, there’s a monster at his back who made him that way.
And monsters like those hide in plain sight.

Note: This is a standalone romance with content that some might find triggering. Be warned, and read with caution.

Caesar had just come down the escalator at arrivals when the sight of someone waiting for him down below had his rage simmering damn near instantly. Of fucking course his father wouldn’t let Caesar come home to no one waiting for him.
He should have known better.
But shit, he was surprised to see the man who his father did send to wait for him. His half-brother—Daniele.
Was Angelo trying to start a war?
Because Daniele looked ready for it.
Caesar found that amusing.
That was half the problem.
“Caesar,” Daniele greeted when Caesar stepped off the escalator.
The hatred dripped from his half-brother’s tone. It almost made Caesar giddy—yet another person in his life that he had ruined in one way or another. Really, what Caesar had done to Daniele was just a by-product of someone else’s doings to him.
So was Caesar’s circle.
Vicious.
Cold.
And far too wide.
Everyone got caught in it.
Eventually …
“Papa sent you?” Caesar asked.
“Why else would I come? Others were busy.”
Or they made excuses.
“And you couldn’t be busy, too?” Caesar asked.
“I was told to get over what happened, and that starts with this.”
Right.
His half-brother was never going to get over what happened. Daniele was never going for forgive Caesar for what he did, or forget it. That was kind of the point, though. That was exactly why Caesar did it. He needed his brother to remember what he had done, and that he could do it again in a second.
Hell.
Maybe he would do it again.
Daniele’s gaze blazed with his blinding rage. “And unlike you, I make an effort to follow the rules our father sets out for us.”
Sure he did.
That’s why he was the favored one.
The golden Accardo son.
The honored.
The loved.
The perfect made man.
And Caesar?
He was the dishonored.
The despised.
The shamed made man.
And he fucked his half-brother’s wife just because he could—because like his father, Caesar enjoyed taking people down a peg or two, also.
He humbled people in a different way.
Caesar liked this way better.
