I really wish I had realized this was a book 2 in the Whiskey series. I’ve read Whiskey & You but it’s been a while and I would have liked to refresh my mind a bit. However, that is all on my lap and has nothing to do with the author or even my rating because, again, my fault. So anyway, it took me a bit to get in the mindset of this story and refresh Kemp in my head. He’s a lot more lethal than I recall him being. I might have struggled a bit liking him. I understood his reasoning but, I don’t know, he was dark and hard… like really hard. I do like my alphas with a bit more of a softer side to them, but again, that’s my preference.

However, let me tell you, HJ Bellus pulls out all the emotional stops and likes to play with your heart. I was a bit surprised with how dark Bellus went. This might just be her darkest story. She did take a real-world problem and bring it into fiction with fantasies we’d all like to have really happen. You know, the stories where the good guys always win and the bad guy always rot in hell. Even with all the dark, all the deep; Bellus was able to make this a well-rounded storyline. It was an emotional story.

This is a story that grabbed me by the heart right from the opening chapter. The Truth About Lies is a story that needs to be read with zero preconceived notions... go in blind. You’ll want to come out swinging with the emotions Ms. Martinez evokes in you.




You really can’t review this book in-depth because it just isn’t fair to ruin such a treat for other readers. There’s been this massive release of just fantastic books lately, however, let me tell you that this book is going to cause a hangover... like ultra massive book hangover. You are going to have a difficult time moving on to the next book even with how good releases have been lately. Ms. Martinez writes like a dream! Prepare your heart, prepare your mind and don’t forget a seatbelt... Aly Martinez is about to take you on an emotional ride!!

Rock on man! Rock King was fabulous, but Rock Legend was just plain amazing! I have been rooting for this couple since I first met them in the last book. Now, I have a thing for rocker stories or famous people. I don’t know, it’s kind of fun to see an upclose and personal story for people who I perceive as famous. Landon is on top of the world. He’s living large and enjoying all the privileges of the status he has worked hard for Rock Legend! 

Piper is his ex. The one he walked away from to get that Rock Legend status. She’s cold and aloft after being burned by the man, boy, she was so in love with. Of course, after her cheating ex, she runs right into the man that broke her heart so completely previously. It was only a matter of time since she works for who manages his career.

Man, these two are like oil and water. Yet, they can’t fight the feelings swirling in them. And these two are so incredibly HAWT together! The author, Tara Leigh, created a story where you could just feel two people fighting to not want what they really want! This book gave me this pull… like I couldn’t stop reading! I expected a book that would come out with a bang but Rock Legend is a slow lovely burn. It builds up. It’s angsty. I love me a good second chance story at love. Piper and Landon deserve it!
