Arriving to Scottie’s early in the morning around 8:00, I settle on the couch, while he brings over about 14 bricks of cocaine, setting them on the coffee table in front of us.

“Remember those two guys that wanted a bunch of cocaine at the ski resort? Well, this is how much they wanted and I'm giving you half of the cut because you brought them in,” he tells me.

“Fucking right on man, that is uplifting for sure, I had a rough night talking to Megan last night,” I say to him. I realize I’m upset at the whole thing with Megan, but yet I’m still around cocaine. I need to figure out what I want, just not sure if I really want to settle down and work at a relationship. That never was my intention this young, but she is a great girl and I enjoy seeing her and her kids.

“She gets upset with you about the cocaine using and selling?” Scottie asks.

“Yeah, she caught me doing it in the bathroom at her place and she was pissed at me and kicked me out. We talked things out last night. She really wants me to just get my head out of my ass I guess. We are just not going to see each other this week until your party.” I can only hope she’ll even want to see me.

“Yeah, she really doesn’t like games so I can see her point, just need to figure it out, man. I really need you helping me in the business but if she doesn’t like you in it, you better figure things out. Also, I’m going to need you to deliver this stuff to their house on your own, I have other places to drop some coke off to,” Scottie said to me.

“Fuck, all right. I can do that; they seemed like pretty chill guys, so hopefully no issues with getting the money from them.”

“You know the drill, carry your gun just to be safe. I am out of here though,” tossing a duffle bag Scottie says, “Pack everything in this bag, get the money first then leave the bag and everything with them.”

“Got it bro, is it cool if I help myself to some of the extra cocaine you have laying out on the table?” I ask

“Yeah man, go for it as much as you want; be like Scarface if you want!” he tells me.

Scottie walking out the door, I finish packing up the duffel bag with the abundant amount of cocaine. I can't believe these guys want this much cocaine for a party, but hey, as long as we get money I don’t care what they do with it.

Lining up the extra powder Scottie left laying out on the mirror, I quickly take in four lines. Two to each nostril, getting that buzz I need for the day. Shortly after, I start getting the twitches, and the urge of restlessness. Grabbing the duffel bag, I head out the door to go make my delivery.

Shane Robert spent his whole life a Michigan native until he entered the United States Air Force after high school graduation. Traveling from San Antonio, Texas to Biloxi, Mississippi, he eventually found a new home as an Air Traffic Controller in Salt Lake City where his tower overlooks the mountains of Utah.

He spends the summer playing soccer and the winters skiing while studying Counter Terrorism at American Military University. You can often find him in the tattoo shop adding to his collection, or writing on his sofa with his feet up and the XBOX on in the background. If there's one thing he's good at doing, it's living in the moment.

HOSTED BY

What a debut novel Shane Robert gave us with Cloudy Mirrors! This book left me feeling stunned… with the fact that this book was so awesome and the words themselves. It was such a good book… the storyline and characters were fantastic!!

Addiction is such a struggle for everyone involved. This book takes you through how is takes over a person. I was so impressed with Megan and being able to stand by Micheal.  She really strives to help her man but she also has two boys to care for… you can really get how conflicted she is in this book. She struggles with her what really is best for her children and what to do for Michael.

Roberts brings us through the life of an addict. How they make the choices they make. Why they do what they do. Addiction is a hard subject to tackle and Shane did it with such class and care… this was an extremely real and raw book. I had so many feelings in this book and didn’t walk away with warm fuzzies. Life is like that though, isn’t it? Not everything goes like we might want it to go. Be prepared for a book to break your heart a bit, to leave you feeling sad and shocked. I’m really hoping my unanswered questions mean we’ll get more from Michael and Megan.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

RELEASE BLITZ: We Said Forever by Marie James

Title: We Said Forever
Author: Marie James
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 15, 2017

Blurb

Rock bottom.

They say the only way to go from there is up, but what is “up” when you’re born into someone else’s rock bottom?

At ten, football became my first love. It’s what got me out of the house away from my self-destructive family. My love for football landed me at Las Vegas University with a full ride scholarship, and the orange on my jersey was my favorite color…until my eyes landed on the red dress Fallyn wore the night we met.

At twenty-one, I jumped off the cliff into the unknown the second Fallyn McIntyre danced in my arms at a party. I had the greatest girl in the world and the opportunity to play college ball every Saturday. My rock bottom was looking up, thanks to my two first loves.

Parties, sex, and football—life was perfect. But one drink too many, and my world came crashing down. When I chose pills over my second love, my head told me it was the best decision I ever made. The pills keep me warm and protect me from the distance Fallyn created. Percs don’t judge me. They make me feel alive.

Threes.

They say the best things come in threes, but one leads to a stable future, one is my salvation, and the other drags me to hell—a hell I’d willingly burn in for eternity…if it weren’t for my second love.

Excerpt

Turning to face the guy who is either too stupid or too drunk to take a hint, my eyes land on the handsome face of a tall blond with the lightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen.

The smirk on his face clearly indicates he believes I should be impressed. And I am. There’s no doubt about it. I’m completely fascinated by the ego this douchebag emits with one simple look. Without a word, I let my eyes trail from the top of his purposely mussed hair that probably took longer to fix than mine to the orange chucks adorning his big feet.

He allows the perusal, awaiting my approval. Cocking an eyebrow at his blatant, pompous attitude, I push his hands off my hips.

“Not a chance, buddy,” I say before turning back toward the kitchen.

My legs tremble, wobbling on my already unsteady heels. I release a long, slow breath, hoping he disappeared into the crowd. The last thing I need is for him to notice the way my eyes lingered on his stubbled jaw and the muscles of his chest even his clothes can’t hide. I’m almost certain he could sense my quick, unmasked arousal. One look was all it took for this man to creep his way under my skin and throb in my core. He’s got self-entitled, bad boy, asshole written all over him—character traits I would have dropped anything for a few years ago. Not today, though. Those are flaws I left in Utah when I graduated high school.

The same firm grip reaches for me again, wrapping all the way around my body and pulling my back against an incredibly strong chest.

I close my eyes for a moment, allowing only a second of contact before turning around and readying my hand to slap him across the face for taking such liberties without my permission—just another alpha asshole attribute that used to make me swoon.

“You need to get your—”

His finger covers my lips, preventing me from getting my words out. My attempt at what I’m sure was going to be a very eloquent threat against his manhood falters as he pulls me closer to his body. His leg somehow finds its way between mine as he squats a couple inches to decrease the differences in our height.

The strong hand that has reached for me twice tonight is around my back, fingers splayed against the thin red fabric. The finger that halted my words trails down the column of my damp neck before gripping around at my nape. Gooseflesh follows the trail, racing over my fevered skin. He holds me against him, guiding me to the rhythm I hated until this very second. Like the traitorous slut she is, my body molds against him, every soft inch against his hardness.

“I don’t,” I begin again, only to have his hand leave my neck to push another finger against my parted lips.

I watch, enthralled and utterly stupid, as his bottom lip rolls between his teeth at the same time his thumb sweeps over mine.

I cave, wholeheartedly capitulating to the moment. Ignoring the warning bells going off in my head, screaming at me to bolt through the front door and not look back, I grip the silky athletic fabric of his jersey and pull him closer. A knowing grin lights his face and sparkles in the crystal blue of his eyes.

One song blends into another as our bodies close every millimeter of distance. No words are spoken as the countdown begins. No promises are made when the clock strikes midnight. No way I’ll survive this man when his breath becomes mine. No chance I’ll see him again when swaying all night turns into dancing tongues. No possibility of keeping my promise of no bad boys when one hand grips my nape and the other squeezes my ass.

Alcohol has never really been my thing. The memory of the first time I drank heavy liquor in high school is enough to make my stomach sour, but the bourbon on this guy’s lips is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. It’s, hands down, the most satisfying thing I’ve tasted since the ice cream I had after getting my tonsils removed when I was seven. I savor every fraction of a second, every slow glide of his tongue against mine, each time his lips pull back a fraction and turn up to smile against mine.

Without so much as one spoken word, this man has managed to master my body, persuading it to beg for more, coaxing whimpers from my mouth when he pulls away, only to ensure it pants a seductive moan when those skilled lips find my neck.

I felt this book like I have never felt another. It’s the most heart-wrenching book you’ll ever read. With drug addiction being on the rise everywhere this is a book that most people will be able to relate to in some way or another.

Blaze has dreams and one mistake, one second in time changed his life. Fallyn has dreams too and she knows that one mistake doesn’t have to end everything. Blaze and Fallyn have an instant and strong attraction. You can feel the heat radiating off the Kindle… they are combustible!

This book covers addiction, and I don’t want to give a ton away. But Marie James depicts the thoughts of an addict so perfectly. They might still love their family around them but nothing (NOTHING) is important as staying high. They steal and lie, they hurt and just don’t care. Everyone around them is in their way. They have no control, the drug of choice does.

Fallyn is a strong woman. She doesn’t give up easily but there’s only so much abuse a person can take. This book gives you a painful perspective on the loved one of addicts. This story will break your heart completely. You’ll feel for everyone and curse the situation.

I think Blaze says it perfectly when he states that: “Changes have to be made, but I sure as fuck can’t make them sober.”

So many of my reactions and feelings on this book go back to my own struggle years ago. They pain I put all my loved ones through. Seeing this through Fallyn’s eyes was painful for me. Fallyn reminded me so much of my loving husband who would take my lies and hope they were the truth. I broke him, like Blaze broke Fallyn.

So if you are going into this book with any tie to addiction, just know, you will be touched. It will hurt, it will bring you back to a harder time. Maybe, just maybe, this will open someone’s eyes up to what is happening around them. Marie James touches on this tragic topic with the utmost truth. She doesn’t leave anything out. This book made me cry… it made me feel… it gave me hope. There’s always a reason…

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
