Unexpectedly Royal by Jennifer Domenico

Title: Unexpectedly Royal
Author: Jennifer Domenico
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Designer: Wicked by Design
Editor: Mad Hatter Press
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Something spectacular… that was my goal when I toasted my best friend that New Year’s Eve. Tired of my safe, predictable existence, I agreed to let her choose a resolution for me. What started as nothing more than expanding my horizons, shifted course when I met him.

Lathan— gorgeous, sophisticated, charming, foreign. He seemed like just the man to shake things up a little, and boy, did he. Venturing into a relationship with him changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. Unexpectedly, I fell hard.

I never expected to meet someone like him.
I never expected that fairy tales were true and princes in castles really did exist.
I never expected that my days of kissing frogs were finally over.

There would be challenges, obstacles, fear, but with Lathan I left safe and predictable behind and embraced the spectacular. I'm just a regular girl from Boston, but I’m proof that anything can happen. My something spectacular led to becoming…

Unexpectedly Royal.

One day, many months ago, Jennifer Domenico went to sleep and a beautiful love story played out in her dreams.

When she awoke, she felt compelled to write it down. So she did. The result was her first novel, Turn Towards the Sun and a writing career was born.

Ms. Domenico lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with her very Italian husband, a dog that adores her, two cats that tolerate her, and a wicked sweet tooth.

I really liked Delaney. She was extremely relatable! I think we can all understand what it’s like to be stuck in a rut. She’s looking and NEEDS some excitement in her life. Lathan is looking for some fun. I love that they found each other in a cooking class. I’d love to take one! Seriously, I could just swap places with this girl.

I thought that this was a sweet book! I love books where the commoner gets the Prince. The characters were very well developed. I do think this was a bit too long for me. I also really wished Delaney was a bit stronger as a person but that wasn’t a turn off or anything. Lathan and Delaney really worked well together, they had a great chemistry. I enjoyed the book.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

RE-RELEASE BLITZ: Beauty in the Ashes by Micalea Smeltzer

Title: Beauty in the Ashes
Author: Micalea Smeltzer
Genre: Dark Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 6, 2016

Blurb

Some stories are a fairytale...but this isn't one.

Caelan Gregory’s life fell apart the night he went home and opened the door to find his whole family murdered. Since then, his life has held no meaning. He’s angry. He’s bitter. He’s barely human anymore. There’s nothing left to remind him of the straight A student, and football quarterback he once was…but he wasn’t a good person then, and he’s certainly not a good person now. He’s retreated into a world where all that exists is numbness and his passion for painting.

When Sutton Hale moves into the apartment across the hall from Caelan she’s not prepared for her reaction to him. Something in his broken blue eyes calls to her—after all she’s always had an irrational need to fix everything.

But Caelan doesn’t do relationships or feelings. He does drugs and alcohol. However, he can’t ignore his desire to get to know the raven-haired woman across the hall.

Two broken souls trying to mend one another.

But not everything can be fixed.

In the end, Caelan and Sutton will have to learn that there is beauty in the ashes.

Hi. I’m Micalea. Ma-call-e-uh. Weird name, I know. My mom must’ve known I was going to be odd even in the womb. I’ve written a lot of books. Like a lot. Don’t ask me how many, I don’t remember at this point. I have an unhealthy addiction to Diet Coke but I can’t seem to break the habit. I listen to way too much music and hedgehogs have taken over my life. Crazy is the word that best sums up my life, but it’s the good kind of crazy and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

My Review

Gahhh…. Could this book be any harder to review/rate? This book was so friggin fantastic but I hated it at the same time! See… though book here to review! Smeltzer took a risk like I’ve honestly NEVER seen an author take before. She made this book credible and gave it the most real storyline ever. This book is gritty, honest, and a real story about life, love, living, healing, and learning.

This is NOT an easy book or an easy read. Most romance readers are going to love most of this book but they ending is going to make you want to toss something across the room! To me, that’s the signs of a good book. Smeltzer’s job as an author is to give us a story that makes us feel, even better if we can learn and grow personally as well. I feel like Beauty in the Ashes does just that. You aren’t going to get this happily ever after you want but you get a real story. Life isn’t perfect and I think we get that in Smeltzer’s book!

Beauty in the Ashes gives us a glimpse into love, not as a fairytale, but as a real life experience that needs work and honesty. Sometimes things don’t turn out as we want them too or how we had planned for them to happen. But, just like real life, if we hang in there and are open, we can grow and change, and learn, love can save us. If you read initial reviews you’ll see readers aren’t happy with the ending. I think the warning is enough to tell me this is a different story. Smeltzer says: “Some stories are a fairytale...but this isn't one.” She gives us honesty, instead of predictability; the truth rather than a fairytale.

Release Blitz: See Through Heart by Amie Knight

Title: See Through Heart
Author: Amie Knight
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: November 7, 2016

Blurb

Ainsley came into my life in a flurry of vibrant colors, lighting my world up when all seemed lost.

It wasn’t our quiet nights by the creek or stolen kisses surrounded by a sea of cotton that saved me.

It was her.

She was my comfort when life threw one ugly tragedy after another at me.

Until she dealt me the greatest blow.

Now, abandonment, betrayal, and death darken every corner of my life. Anger and hurt burn bright where love and trust once lived.

But, now, she’s back. Sure, she’s changed, but I see through it—straight to her heart.

MY REVIEW

So I'm totally a creature of habit and read who I know I'll like and read books people suggest to me. But every once and a while a book's cover will grab me or a blurp will grab me. The cover of See Through Heart grabbed me. It's gorgeous! I mean, scroll back up and look at it. It's stunning. So I read the blurp and I read that this was her debut novel and thought "why not" so here I am.

This book was so adorably, heartbreaking. This is just the sweetest book... it's the type of childhood you want for your children and I loved seeing their life every few years and how they grew. While there are some incredibly sad parts in this story there are also so many happy, sweet, hilarious and even some pretty sexy moments too.

It's a great debut novel with an amazing cover!!
