One Step Too Far by Lisa Gardner

One Step Too Far is the second book in the Frankie Elkin series. She starts out on the search for a missing boy but along the way is interested in a missing hiker, Tim. He has been missing going on 5 years and every year Tim’s father and friends as well as some searchers hit the mountains for a week and search. At this point they know they are searching for bones so they bring a cadaver dog with his handler. There’s also a big foot expert on this search. As the search goes on it’s clear to Frankie that the friends are keeping secrets. This isn’t like Frankie’s normal searches, she’s completely out of her element in the woods. However, she decides she can still do what she always does… ask questions, talk to the others, find out those secrets.

It doesn’t take long before there’s some sabotage happening on their trek. It’s clear someone is going to great lengths to get this crew back on flat ground and out of the woods. But the dad is determined and knows this is their last year searching for his son. He wants nothing more than to bring his son’s body home to his dying wife. There’s quite the cast of characters but it was easy to follow along and get to know everyone. Hillary Huber was amazing as the narrator for this entire book. She’s amazing in my opinion. I felt she sounded authentic and I was pleasantly surprised when she was really able to step into the characters shoes and just portray them. I looked her up, she wasn’t a name I clearly recognized but she seemed kind of familiar. Sure enough, I’ve listened to several audiobooks she’s narrated. I’d happily listen to another audiobook narrated by Miss Huber.

Thank you Brilliance Publishing for the complimentary copy of this audiobook with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
