***** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *****
Sabra, oh Sabra, she shows us what so many women do... we carry our burdens by ourselves in silence. There's so many there that would help but she can't. She's too scared because the ones that should have protected her, didn't, how do you trust others after that? After your main protector doesn't just crush your trust but also your heart and the innocence of a young girl knowing too much, way too early. Sabra is out for a good time as long as they don't want more than fun... except Trevor. Trevor is special. He's fought for her. No one else has but can he keep taking the beating Sabra dishes out?
This is Kate Dunbar's debut novel.... SAY WHAT?!?! Let me tell you guys something, I've had some experience with some of what Miss Dunbar wrote about. She created very vividly what goes on in the head of a survivor. There's so much doubt and fear. There's a bit of self-loathing and even promiscuity. Dunbar
shows us the effects of abuse and what's in the mind of the abused. This story made me feel so much. I found myself talking out loud to Sabra.
While Dunbar shows us the emotions that Sabra has had to deal with on the inside, the world starts to get scary for Sabra. I wanted her to talk so badly to her friends, a teacher, to Trevor; but fear is real and Lucas has done a superb job at making sure Sabra knows who is in charge. Shewwww... this story will run your feelings through a gamut of emotions. One minute your feeling hopeless and scared, beaten down. The next your mind is at peace and you feel happy and lucky to have found your person. The next your terrified and wondering why you? You're reminded once again why you can't have nice things.
I was quite pleased with the narration by Stella Hunter. I do wish the conversations were done in dual narration but since the book is only in one POV, I get it, but there was a lot of conversations with males that could have benefitted
from that male voice. Hunter tried and does change her voice for the males and it helps. Other than that one quirk of mine, I LOVED this narration. I feel like Hunter did a perfect job of adding the emotions that Sabra delt with into her voice. I felt the fear, the anger, the hope, the longing, the delight and even the fun. I felt those mundane days along with the days riddled with fear. Amazing job! I give narration 4 stars.
I'm wildly impressed that Kate Dunbar gives us such an emotional story with layers of love and taunt manipulation with some psychological warfare mixed in. We see a sick obsession come to a head in Used and it is one crazy ride frought with cold calculation and intimidation. I was truly held captive and am
looking forward to reading more from Miss Dunbar in the future.

“Heartbreakingly beautiful. This book isn’t about angst and pain. It’s about a fighter-a survivor-that we all attain to be. The story tears you apart in the best ways and builds you back up in the most beautiful.”
~ Nichole Chase, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author
“Used is a raw, heart-wrenching story of surviving trauma, but it's also so much more. It's a romantic, emotionally gratifying tale of unflinching, all-in love. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.” ~ Brenda Rothert, Author
