RELEASE DAY: A Bridge Between Us by K.K. Allen

“Raw. Gripping. Electrifying. A Bridge Between Us will awaken your soul and set flight to your heart. I couldn’t put it down.”  -Kandi Steiner, Bestselling Author

A Bridge Between Us, an all-new small-town romance full of suspense from USA Today bestselling author K.K. Allen is available now!

I had always known he wasn’t mine to keep, but that didn’t change the way I loved him—quietly, gently, and from afar.

As the seasons changed, the corn stalks grew strong, and the grapevines flourished with hope. But none of it mattered, not when the soil at our feet bound us in a century-old rivalry. We’d never even had a chance.

They said life flashed before your eyes on the way to death, but on that night, after my final scream burst from my throat and my world started to fade to black, I only thought of him. Of his sweet chocolate eyes, his desperately cautious stare, and his silence that carried more weight than gold.

I should have died that night. Instead, I crossed the moonlit bridge and never returned.
I let rivalry win. If only that had been enough to keep us all safe. If only we didn’t have a bridge between us.

I feel like an emotional and suspenseful book is a rare occurrence. I'm not sure why because A Bridge Between Us was just fabulous. I have to toss out that I really loved the suspenseful addition. I don't read emotional novels often as I don't enjoy being wrecked. I have to be in the mood for it. So, KK Allen's mix of the suspense with the emotions really worked for me.

Allen has such a way with words that I found myself enamored way earlier than I expected. She created this star-crossed lovers feel with an achingly slow burn. Not only were the characters gorgeous but Allen brought out this imagery with the scenery. I mean, I felt as though I was there with Camila and Ridge running through the cornfields and spending hours against the tree on Camila's hilltop. Allen's words are powerful and memorable because they make you use your senses... I felt as though I jumped right into the book to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel the words Allen wrote. It seemed like a full-bodied experience.

The way the story began, with Camila and Ridge as friends and really learning to lean on each other was what really had my heart all tangled up. There's just something about two young kids finding a friendship in a people their parents have forbade them from befriending... isn't that just always the case? Thankfully, we don't stay young for long. There are some teenage days mixed in as well. Mostly, Allen sets a stage for their forbidden friendship that grows into a beautiful and sweet first love. One where they must lie, hide and sneak. The growth of both characters throughout the story was fabulous. Camila is ever optimistic.  She thinks passionately with her heart and jumps in with both feet only to think after.

As she gets older, she outgrown some of that but she's still headstrong. She's confident and now, she finds herself going home to fill the role her father left behind. Ridge and her one face to face again but this time there’s more than a bridge between them... there's lies, past heartbreak, and secrets pulsing between them. Just a fabulous story... and gorgeous! The cover is absolutely stunning. It matches the beauty of the words inside!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
