Blurb:

The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old and we shared a summer beneath the stars.

The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart.

We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars...until we both got swept away.

About the Author:

A Texas native, Kate Stewart lives in North Carolina with her husband, Nick, and her naughty beagle, Sadie. She pens messy, sexy, angst-filled contemporary romance as well as romantic comedy and erotic suspense because it's what she loves as a reader. Kate is a lover of all things '80s and '90s, especially John Hughes films and rap. She dabbles a little in photography, can knit a simple stitch scarf for necessity, and on occasion, does very well at whiskey.

Title: Shameless King

Author: Maya Hughes

Genre: New Adult Romance

Release Date: June 28, 2018

A deliciously steamy enemies with benefits romance.

Declan McAvoy. Voted Biggest Flirt. Highest goal scorer in Kings of Rittenhouse Prep history.

Everyone’s impressed, well except one person…

After a blow out in high school, Makenna Halstead and I were happy to never have to cross paths again. Except life has a way of knocking you straight in the teeth with a puck when you least expect it. She hasn’t just returned to my life, she crashed into it like a wrecking ball...into my college kingdom, into my class, and smack dab into the seat next to mine. My new lab partner to be exact.

For years we hated each other... I may be King on the ice, but she is the Ice Queen. She has no problem calling me out, doesn’t back down, and her piercing blue eyes have me picturing more than than just my arms wrapped around her.

Now we’re stuck with each other and there’s no getting around that fact that we have to work together. My hockey career hangs in the balance. Problem? Oh, yeah.

I can’t deny it. I want her. More than I ever thought I could want a woman. I’ve got one semester–only four months–to convince her everything she thought about me was wrong.

Will my queen let me prove to her I’m the King she can’t live without?

Only one way to find out…

I’ve seen Maya Hughes’s books around for a while now. I hadn’t read her yet but once I saw this cover, I just knew I had to read this! Doesn’t it just look like Dec is reaching out to you… well, me, I mean. He’s reaching for me with those ocean blue eyes and I couldn’t resist him! I’m just so thrilled to have read this book! I was so tickled with the writing and the storyline that I read it within 24 hours. I just couldn’t stop and wanted more. There was so much heat and humor that it was such a fun read. It made me think back to a simple and fun time during college… ahhhh, the good ol’ days!

If you are a lover of really steamy… like your Kindle might just burn your hands hot, with some funny banter and an enemies to frienemies with benefits type of college romance with a very small smidge of sports added in… then Shameless King could not be more perfect! Declan is the man every man (college student) wants to be and every woman wants to be with. He’s charismatic and fun plus he’s Hockey King and everyone wants a piece of him. Well, except ice queen Makenna from high school. Now, here they are in college thinking they’ve finally gotten away from their nemesis only to find them walking the same halls… in the same class… and now they find themselves lab partners. Fun and banter will ensue! They find the hate turning to lust and long nights of homework to nights bursting with sexual tension!

These two were hot as Hades! I loved that it was a bit lighter in the angst… I mean, this is college, but it wasn’t as angst as it could have been and I appreciate it! I hate it when its way more angsty than it needs to be! Maya Hughes really spent her time and developed the characters. I felt like they were strong characters and I really was invested in this story due to the way it was put together. I do kind of wish we got more of the friends added in. I loved the first few chapters were we got a bit more of sports aspect of it. This could be because I just wanted more of the secondary characters too… they were just as fantastic!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Cassy Campbell

For one night of fun I kissed a man whose name I never cared to know. I pushed down all of the rules I had in place for myself with this one act of selfishness. No one had to know, and I could lie to myself that it never happened. People don’t remember tourists, and neither should I. It’s not like he was marriage material anyway.

No one is more surprised than me when a year goes by and that tourist becomes my freakishly hot, annoying, cocky neighbor who looks at me like a predator stalking his prey.

He is everything I was told to never go for, yet I can’t escape this feeling of being drawn to him.

Brody Bennett

After surviving a military accident, my entire future is in shambles, the only life I’ve ever known ripped from me. Attempting to run from my ego, I find myself in the small town of Three Rivers, where I can forget my problems and annoy my two younger brothers. Misery loves company, right?

It doesn’t take long for my sights to narrow in on an incredibly sexy blonde. The problem is she looks at me like she wants to squish me like a bug.

As shocking twists and deadly truths spiral out of control, I am forced to fight for the people who matter most in my life.

Rules are broken, hearts are trampled, and the lies that hold everything perfectly in place are torn down.

This is book three in the Bennett Brothers Series, it is told in dual POV, and has a HEA. Since characters do play recurring roles, reading book one (Recklessly Mine) and book two (Recklessly Forbidden) in the series, is recommended; however, it can be read as a standalone.

Recklessly Devoted is the end of the Bennett Brothers… I’m so sad! However, Emily Bowie sure went out with a bang! Brody was the best book yet! Bowie’s writing has blossomed over this three books and I just can’t adore this group any more than I already do! I’m a bit sad, I feel like I get so close to the people after so many books. Bowie sure put Brody and Cassy through the ringer! I was so mad at Brody… like I wanted to woop that man! However, when he gives his heart though, he gives all of him. He finally won me over! Cassy was adorable and I loved her spunk! Brody and Cassy were good for each other. They brought a good balance to each other.

I was so sad to see this is the last Bennett Brother books but Bowie has given us some fantastic secondary characters that I know she can write some fantastic spin offs! Luke… oh Luke, we all love to hate you the most! I can’t wait to see how Mrs. Bowie redeems you! I’d also love to see Mara’s story and how Tori’s story came about. I just want more and I’m hoping Emily Bowie will give it!

Two years ago, his kiss left her reeling, but she pushed him away and they never spoke of it again.

Lena Andrews is bad at love, and has no intention of getting better at it.

Men are good for one thing, and love isn’t it.

She’s perfectly okay with finding happiness in her job as a comic book artist.

Yet, she can’t shake the memory of her coworker’s kiss.

Amos St. Clair has stayed the hell away from Lena Andrews for the last two years.

Work has filled his time and he’s on the cusp of making a name for himself. When an opportunity to complete a project that’s dear to Lena’s heart presents itself, Amos seizes the opportunity – even if it means being with the woman he's avoided all this time.

Through their mutual passion for art and each other, their love blooms like a lotus flower out of a dark, muddy pool. But, is their love strong enough to withstand the challenges posed by the most important job of their careers?

Hilaria Alexander never thought she’d be a writer one day. Reader? Yes. Book hoarder? You betcha. Then, she started reading romance - that’s when she felt the need to write a story. Unfortunately, she didn’t listen to her gut, and talked herself out of it A MILLION TIMES. She finally gave up a few years ago, when the urge to write was stronger than self-doubt. She loves funny, sexy romances wrapped with a huge happily-ever-after bow at the end. Her inbox is always open if you want to chat about one of her books.

I’m feeling completely revered when a book teaches me things, when it opens my eyes to the unknown. This is exactly what Hilaria Alexander did with “The Art of Us.” I would have never thought Anime or Manga would be interesting, to be honest, I always thought of it as juvenile and it held no interest for me. Aren’t I just the judgmental little twit? I mean, really, luckily Alexander was there to open my mind to new artistic creativity, as well as, culturally. It was fascinating to read about the Japanese culture. So while I learned a lot with “The Art of Us,” I also was able to read a fantastic book at the same time.

This was my first Hilaria Alexander book. It appears I’m missing a couple previous one and I believe we have previously met our characters in the other books. However, I didn’t feel slighted in not reading the other books. I felt like I was missing a bit but it didn’t affect the story. I just hate knowing I’ve missed something when books are slightly connected. Anyway, we meet Lena and Amos. They are both comic book artists. Lena has some baggage and man, is she an angry woman! Drawing has always been calming for her and she finds an escape within every stroke. Amos is a total sweetie and you will totally swoon over him!

I was tickled pink over this story! The chemistry between the characters was smokin’! The cultural diversity was completely fascinating. This was sensational first read for me! Alexander was super descriptive in her writing. You really feel like you get a deep grasp on their world. It was almost as if Alexander took us on this visual journey with her words. She took us through a maze with wall popping up here and there to keep us guessing and wondering.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
