RELEASE DAY: The Truth About Us by Aly Martinez

The conclusion to the heart-stopping Truth Duet by Aly Martinez just went live!

Today we are celebrating the release of the second book in The Truth Duet by Aly Martinez. The Truth About Us is now available! The first book in the duet, The Truth About Lies, is available too and both titles can be read for FREE as part of KindleUnlimited!

READ THE TRUTH ABOUT US NOW:

Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon CA | Amazon AU

THE TRUTH ABOUT US (The Truth Duet, #2)

Read it now:

Synopsis:

Truth: Penn Walker entered my life like a summer storm—dark, ominous, and filled with thunder.

After witnessing my husband’s murder, I didn’t have much of a heart left to offer a man.

But Penn took it all.

Every jagged shard.

Every broken bit.

Even the dirty and twisted pieces that I wish never existed.

Lie: I didn’t need him to save me.

Lie: I knew exactly who he was.

Lie: Losing him wouldn’t destroy me.

But that’s the thing about lies—you never know who to believe.

This was one fantastic duet! Captivating and compelling... Cora and Penn were a couple that you can’t help but to root for. Cora is just incredible. She’s gone through so much and she’s so strong. Then you have poor, tortured (and amazing, as well) Penn. He deserves every single wonderful thing that can happen to him.

I really poured through this book. The conclusion was a bit heavier on the suspense than the first one and I LOVED that. I love books that make me fly though the pages like the devils hot on my heels... that is just what The Truth About Us did. The Truth About Us walked this perfect line between suspense and romance while giving us a fantastic, compulsive story with fascinating characters that you want nothing but good things for.

This is one of those duets, one of those stories, that you are going to return to again and again when you in s book rut and nothing is working. The Truth Duet will pull you out of your funk by giving you an epic love story that’ll reach you right down in your core. #MovieMaterial #WhosURPenn

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Have you ever waited so long for a book that you’re a bit scared it won’t live up to the months waiting for it... the near year waiting for it? That was No Tomorrow by Carian Cole for me. I’ve been a bit fearful since this bad boy landed on my kindle last week. No Tomorrow exceeded every single preconceived thought I had on this story. I knew Blue and Piper’s story was going to be emotionally riveting but this story just makes me want to sit and ponder on everything that happened to these characters between these covers.

No Tomorrow contains some pretty heavy topics... mental illness and depression is rampant. Drug abuse and addiction is projected so well, so humanistic. Piper and Blue’s relationship spans decades. This relationship really shows the various trials we put our loved ones through when we’re struggling with depression and/or drug addiction. It’s eye opening And heart breaking. I feel like it’s too risky to talk much more about the storyline. It seems everything is possibly a spoiler so I’m going to keep this brief. It you enjoy books that open your mind and make you think about difficult topics. If you enjoy stories so full of emotion that it will but you through a variety of emotions. If you can handle having your heart shredded and then slowly pieces back together than I would suggest... no... urge, I would definitely urge you to fall into No Tomorrow. Live through this long, long story and think about the complexity of the situations Ms. Cole hits you with. You might find that you come out the other side with a bit of understanding, or at least an acceptance for very difficult topics and vulnerable situations.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

The people we love are thieves.
They steal our hearts. They steal our breath.
They steal our sanity.
And we let them.
Over and over and over again.

*********************************************

They say you never forget your first time.
Mine was with a homeless musician who effed my brains out under a bridge.
He was my first love. And fourteen years later, I still can’t get him out of my head.
He broke all my rules.
He also broke my heart.
I watched him climb to stardom, cheering him on from afar.
But I was never a fan; just a girl in love.
Like a tornado, he spiraled, leaving a path of destruction in his wake.
But love conquers all, right? It has to. Because here I stand, ravaged and ruined, needing it to be true.
You can’t go back, but I want to. Back to the bridge. Back to when he sang only for me. Before he was famous. Before he shattered my heart.
I thought I knew everything about him.
But I could not have been more wrong.
He promised me every tomorrow. And here I am, waiting.
And hoping.
Again.

RELEASE DAY: Bring Down the Stars by Emma Scott

BRING DOWN THE STARS
Beautiful Hearts Duet Book 1
By Emma Scott

I fell for Connor Drake. I didn’t want to; I fought against it, but I fell in love with him anyway. With his words. With his poetry. With him. The gentleness and beauty of his soul that speaks directly to mine. He writes as if he can feel my heart, hear its cadence and compose the exact right lyrics to accompany every beat and flow.

I’m in love with Connor…so why do I feel an inexplicable pull to his best friend, Weston? Grouchy, sullen, brooding Weston Turner, who could cut you down with a look. Fiercely intelligent with a razor sharp wit and acid tongue, he’s the exact opposite of Connor in every way, and yet there’s electricity in the air between us. The thorny barbs Weston wraps around himself can’t keep me away.

But the more time I spend with these men, the more tangled and confused my emotions become. When they both sign up for the Army Reserves during a time of increasing strife in the Middle East, I fear I’ll never unravel my own heart that sometimes feels as if it will tear straight down the middle…for both of them.

**********
Bring Down the Stars is an emotional, angst-filled novel of unrequited love by bestselling author, Emma Scott, and is inspired by the classic tale, Cyrano de Bergerac. (Roxanne) It is Book I in the Beautiful Hearts Duet, coming this summer. Book II, Long Live the Beautiful Hearts, to be released a few weeks later. #lovetriangle #confusedhearts #notamenage

I started this book early in the day and was at first a bit afraid that this was too similar to Meghan Quinn’s last duet. While it definitely has some similarities there are a ton of differences! You get the feel right away that this wasn’t written in a normal typing and fingers fashion. Bring Down the Stars was written straight from the heart. Deep inside where all our fears and secrets are hidden. This reads like pure poetry which is handy with Weston and Autumn’s interest. BDtS also makes me think of Shakespearean work. It is like Emma Scott’s heart is talking directly to her reader’s hearts. I feel the energy of this book with its pulsing heart and stuttered confusion.

Once I hit Part III I was so definite in how I thought I wanted things to happen. Boy was I wrong. Ms. Scott is so clever in her writing and in her character building that I fell for the entire cast and crew. Weston is surely, a bit aloft and grouchy. He’s been hurt at a tender age in his life from those meant to protect and love him. He’s got issues. Connor, the rich boy who has it all. He’s never had to work hard a day in his life. As annoying as one might think that is, it isn’t, not coming from Connor who is a sweet guy with a good heart. He struggles and seems to be holding onto Wes’s coattails. I kept trying to figure out who was “in charge” or who the dominant male is but they are so evenly matched that I couldn’t figure them out. Simply put, Wes and Connor are best friends and they look out for each other.

So what happens when two guys both fall for THE woman!? Can a friendship spanning nearly a decade survive Autumn? Ms. Scott takes us through the aches and pains of friendship and falling in love, which is hard enough, if the friends weren’t falling for the same person. What a story!! Beautiful and heartbreaking! This is a must read and has easily found its way onto my top 10 reads of 2018. Now, if I could just get my hands on book two!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

EXCERPT

Later that night, Connor lay sprawled on the couch with SportsCenter blaring, scrolling his phone. I sat at the kitchen table, tapping my pen against an empty page in my notebook and contemplating running as my Object of Devotion. I couldn’t muster the blood and guts to put it to paper. I liked running. It served a purpose, but did I want to make it my life?

“Oh shit,” Connor cried from behind me.

“What is it?”

“I accidentally texted her.”

“Who?” I said, knowing damn well who.

“Autumn. I was fucking messing around and I hit that stupid predictive text thing, then panicked and hit send.”

“So what?”

“I don’t text or call a girl until at least three days have passed.”

I set down my pen and turned around. “Are you serious?”

“Of course I’m serious. It looks desperate to text her the same day.

I hid a smile. “What did you text?”

“Just ‘yes’.” His eyes widened. “Shit. She’s texting me back.”

Connor jumped up from the couch and came to where I sat, standing next to my chair as we both watched his phone.

Yes…? J

Connor typed, Hey.

I smirked. “Really?”

“Yeah, so?”

A pause, then a new text bubbled up. What’s up?

“Now she’s annoyed,” I said. “Or impatient.”

Connor looked to me. “What do I say?”

“Why are you asking me?”

“You’re good at this shit. How many papers did you write for me at Sinclair?”

“This is not the same thing.”

“Ballpark.” Connor made a face. “Dude, she’s waiting.”

I frowned, thought for a moment. “Tell her the truth.”

“Hell no—”

“Tell her the truth but make it better. Tell her you were messing with your phone while thinking about her. Tell her that you wanted to talk to her so badly, your subconscious made it happen.”

“Oh, that’s good.”

Connor’s fingers flew, and then he hit send.

There was a pause and no answer.

Connor frowned. “What’s this mean?”

“It’s good. I mean she’s thinking about what you said.”

The rolling dots of Autumn’s reply came in.

The old ‘accidental text’ move? I feel like I’ve seen that before…;-)

“She’s not letting you off the hook so easily,” I said, smiling despite myself. “Don’t deny. Tell her she’s one hundred percent right. You’ll make any excuse to talk to her.”

“That’s perfect, man.”

Connor typed and hit send.

I like your honesty, came the reply.

“Hey, it’s working.” Connor beamed. “Now what?”

It was working, and I didn’t like what it was.

“I don’t know, man,” I said, waving a hand. “Type something. Whatever you’re thinking.”

“I want her to go out with me.”

“Then ask.”

With a horrible fascination, I watched Connor type, So, dinner?

“Jesus, dude,” I said.

“What? That’s exactly what you told me to do.”

“Not like that,” I said. “I told you she needs romance.”

I don’t know, she wrote. I have so much work to do already.

“Fuck,” Connor said. He nudged me with his phone. “Wes, man, you do it.”

I blinked. “Do what now?”

“Ask her out for me. The right way.”

I stared.

“Look, this girl is special. I’m not too proud to admit I need back-up getting things rolling with her.” He grinned that winning smile. “C’mon. Just this once.”

“But…”

Connor shoved his phone into my hand. “Come on, man. Do what you do. Write something witty and poetic. Something that’ll impress her enough to get me another text. Another…anything.” He clapped me on the shoulder. “Write something that knocks her on her ass and gets me in the door. That’s all I ask.”

I looked at Connor's phone in my hand and Autumn Caldwell’s text, waiting for an answer. I felt my best friend’s expectations literally breathing down my neck as he leaned over me.

Ignoring the small ache in my heart, I thought about what I would’ve said to Autumn had it been my phone in my hand, and began to type.
