Betrayal. Treachery. Exploitation.

Her husband wants her locked away in a psychiatric facility. His business partner wants her dead.

Isabella Armond thought her husband was a physician. Why wouldn’t she? He indeed appeared to be a prominent cardio-thoracic surgeon with a high-end Paris practice. But what she did not know was that he was also a black-market butcher. Aligned with his business partner the two stole and brokered thousands of organs from unsuspecting victims. Adrien Armond, a psychopath, whose addiction to power and the good life needed a constant infusion of funds. Isabella alone stood in his way and that just would not do.

Isabella was now the target of the only man that could save her.

After reading KJ McGillick’s previous book, “Three,” I was thrilled to see there was another book in the series “Two: Mind Games and Murder.” What a crazy action packed psychological thriller this turned out to be. I liked the previous book but Two totally threw me for a loop! I know I said series but this can be read as a complete standalone. This book gives us exactly what we want from a thriller. We have black market dealings, art forgeries, money laundering, and murder… everything anyone could ever want in their psychological thrillers.

Even though this is the second book in the series, it can be read on its own. I have not read the first, although I will be, and was totally enthralled by this story. Money is an evil commodity and it drives people to do things that they ordinarily wouldn't.  McGillick wrote a fantastic story. I love the feeling of Isabella wondering if she is losing her mind or if her husband is after her demise. I love the storyline. It’s super original and the writing is fantastic!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

“I want her dead. Make it happen,” Avigad stated. His thick lips enveloped the rim of the fine china cup. Her death was not a suggestion. It was an order to be carried out without question. An assassination. I was a surgeon but his chosen assassin for this death. “I don’t care what method you employ. Get it done.”

This was a good debut book. The writing and storyline was interesting and different. I enjoyed it. There were places that it felt a bit stagnant and others where I wanted more information. The ending seemed a bit hurried. I’m happy to see this is going to be a series. It’s a gripping story about betrayal and lies. I liked the characters for the most part and just loved Aunt Mary for the humor and fun she added to the story.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
