Just like the name implies,
Sierra Hill wrote a book that perfectly embodies Sweet Little Lies. Hill gave
us some real every day, relatable issues to peruse and she pulled it off
flawlessly! This book really made me think on the immigration rules in our
country. What it’s like for people who are immigrants. It seemed so authentic,
it felt so real. I adored the closeness of Mica’s family. They were just so
close. Mica is a young lady that you can’t help but route for. Lance, oh Lance,
our star basketball player. He has it all. Yet, he’s struggling with some inner
demons.
I loved the punch this book
packed. Sierra Hill gave it all to us in
this book. Love is love, those 3 little words explain love in its simplest form.
Besides the immigration side of this, this book takes a close look on how us children
strive to always make our parents happy and proud of us. No matter how old we
are, we always want those feelings of pride from our families.

It’s just another reason to hate myself and the man I’ve become. If I wasn’t such a fucking coward, I’d be lying in the ground next to her right now, too. Next to my brother’s grave, as well.
There are days I wish I wouldn’t wake up. That I could fuck myself up so much that I’d fall asleep and drift off into the endless night. Because that would mean I wouldn’t have to live any longer with this constant malignant hatred that lives deep inside my soul. The self-loathing, loss and grief that I’ve caused.
But instead, the daylight always returns, making that hole in my heart seem bigger and deeper.
