One deep breath. Two slow blinks. Three hollow beats. I’m still here.
After three years, that reminder isn’t as necessary. But everyone has their bad days. This is definitely one of them.
Until an adorable little boy dashes into my store. His zest for life makes me smile in a way that’s been long lost.
Then I meet his father. Well, confront is more like it.
Brance Stone is volatile. Offensive. Harsh. And can’t be bothered to care.
Not that I want him to. I get frostbite just looking into Brance’s glacial stare. But there’s something undeniable about him.
My misery suddenly craves company. The suffocating numbness lifts whenever Brance is near. That alone should have me running in the opposite direction. Try as I might, there’s no avoiding him. If only I could understand why. As if he’d let me.
I don’t ask. He doesn’t tell. A silent, bitter truce settles between us. That was our first mistake. It’s certainly not the last.

Excerpt
That’s when the door opens with a bang. A tall man stomps in with the power of a hurricane. Is the ground shaking? If it is, I barely notice.
Holy. Hotness.
Who ordered the sex in a suit?
The guy’s laser focus is latched on the boy beside me so he doesn’t notice my slack jaw. He’s tall, but not overly bulky. His thick hair is styled in a messy sort of way and I want to smooth the unruly flyaways. A five o’clock shadow dusts his jaw, the first signs of stubble barely visible. The contrast between his light eyes and dark features is hypnotic. An impeccable suit covers his broad frame, cut to fit his wide shoulders and trim waist perfectly. He could easily sell this look. Hell, after one glance I’m ready to buy it off him.
He’s effing lickable.
And glaring at me as though I’m offending him.

Addison Walker is every fantasy I never dared to believe in.
Moving to this town was already monumental.
Finding her removes any lingering doubt.
She’s bold and vibrant.
Beautiful and confident.
Far too good for the likes of me.
Luckily, I’m not good at avoiding temptation.

My desire is growing beyond control.
I’m done waiting on the sidelines.
When opportunity strikes, I eagerly take advantage.
Signing on the dotted line before thinking twice.
The repercussions cross my mind far too late.
When she swiftly sticks me in the friend-zone, there’s not a damn thing I can do about it.

Addison is just down the hall—might as well be miles away.
Temptation drives me to the edge of sanity.
She speaks to my deepest cravings like a siren.
Our chemistry blurs every line.
This battle seems impossible to win.
Yet my determination doesn’t wane.
It only takes one night to change everything.

After all, I didn’t come all this way to settle for less.

Excerpt
“She left on Monday,” Addison tells the other woman. I think her name is Myla.
“Tania stopped by over the weekend to say goodbye. We’ll miss her around here. How’s the roommate search going?”
Addison groans. “Not well, as in nonexistent. I don’t know where to start.”
“Have you asked around? I’m sure Marlene has suggestions,” Myla laughs.
“No way. If I give that nosey-nellie an inch, she’ll run off with a mile. Talk about added stress.”
“Gah, can you imagine who she’d come up with? I’m sure Betty would toss her name in the hat.”
Addison shakes her head. “Not happening.” Her shoulders rise and fall with a big breath, the weight seeming unbearable. “Where do I find someone reliable and responsible and easy to get along with?”
“Right here,” I blurt.
Both girls whip around and gape at me. Myla’s shock quickly morphs into a grin. Addison can’t seem to pick her jaw up off the floor. She sputters, “How much did you hear?”
I can barely make out her words over my thundering pulse. “Enough.”
“You wanna move in with me?”
My heart beat skyrockets, threatening to bust a vein. What the hell did I get myself into?
“Shane?” Addison prods.
“Uh, yeah?”
“Were you being serious?”
“Yes?”
She raises a brow. “That doesn’t sound very convincing. Are you really looking for a place to live? Raven mentioned something along those lines.”
I learned fairly quick how fast word gets around in this town, so I’m not surprised people are talking. “I am, yep."

RELEASE DAY: Watch Me Follow by Harloe Rae

Title: Watch Me Follow
Author: Harloe Rae
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Release Date: February 2, 2018

Blurb

Creep. Freak. Crazy Eyes.
I've heard it all.
Over the years, they've slammed me with every demeaning name in the book.
Their taunts warped me like a steady stream of poison.
Anger replaced anxiety as I started believing the cruelty spat my way.
Until she showed up and changed everything.
Lennon Bennett is pure innocence—warm sunshine breaking apart my stormy existence.
She's everything good and maybe I can be too.
For her. With her.
Because of her.
Lennon doesn’t know I’m beckoned closer with each breath. She isn't aware that I'm completely consumed with her.
It’s become my sole purpose to protect her, by any means necessary.
But if she discovers the depth of my obsession, it will be the end of me.
So, I remain in the shadows.
Waiting. Watching.
Wanting.
She'll be my first.
My last. My only.

Watch Me Follow is a TOTAL standalone.

Oh Miss Harloe Rae, how did you accomplish making stalking looking so HAWT!?! It isn’t fair and it definitely shouldn’t be right! But, alas, Ryker is ah-maze-ing! That cover is exactly who I see too. It’s just as crazy and as sexy as you’d expect from an obsessed stalker! Ryker makes you think having an obsessed stalker is alright. He’s an interesting character. He suffers from severe anxiety and can’t be touched or near others, so obviously having friends or having an intimate relationship isn’t going to happen for him.

Lennon was sweet and I liked her. However, I had a hard time really relating to her. I don’t know something about her area seemed a bit off for me… I really can’t pinpoint what went wrong with that area. Because of that, and only that, I was lacking a connection with the book. Which is a shame because it had all the makings of completely perfection. It isn’t dark like I thought it was going to be but sweet… surprising, right? It was a bit too sweet for a stalker book. But looking at all these uber high ratings, that’s just me! I’m still thinking it’s between a 3.5 and 4 star, so it’s good, really good, just not perfect for me.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Excerpt

He’s becoming really obvious.

The mystery man is here again, hidden in the shadows and out of clear sight, but I’m catching onto him.

After noticing him standing behind me the other day, the dark stranger has been appearing everywhere lately. I’m pretty sure this guy wants to get caught. Perhaps he’s been hanging nearby a lot longer and I’m just realizing it. My pulse beats wildly, the whooshing pounding in my ears as I continue watching him. This reaction isn’t from fear but rather a startling awareness of his recurring presence. I’m not scared of him, though most might be, and the need to know why snakes through my system.

We’ve been playing an intense game of hide-and-seek since that afternoon outside Aire Gardens almost a week ago. I’ll go somewhere—my studio, Brewed Awakenings, around campus, my apartment—and after settling in, begin searching for him. He’s always there, waiting to be spotted. Each time I find him, my belly tightens as a smile lights up my face. Discovering him out there, lingering in the background, has become something I really look forward to.

How didn’t I notice sooner?

Perhaps it’s my total inexperience with dating, and the opposite sex in general, that has me getting far too attached to these moments. I’m getting wrapped up in the fantasy of him, of what he represents. This stranger—Seek is what I’ve started calling him—is the closest thing to a boyfriend I’ve ever had. I find myself daydreaming about him, wondering who he really is, when did he find me, and most importantly—why me?

I press my palm flat against the cool glass and stare at him leaning against the large oak tree outside the Student Center. My thoughts are becoming more and more consumed with a guy I don’t even know—at least not really. Yet it seems like I do.
