First, if you are strong enough to pass by this cover and not be curious… well, you are way stronger than I!! I saw this cover and was beyond… curious, yes, we’ll go with curious. I mean, good Lord man… where is the warning label? This thing is insanely hot! I was a bit shocked with how long the storyline was. I’ve always been used to a decent story from Ella James, nothing too extreme but nothing short and abrupt. I’ll be strait and honest here; I could have dealt with about ¼ of the story removed. It felt like there was a bit too much… description, information… I’m not sure what was too much but it doesn’t feel like it’s all necessary.

However with all that being said, Miss James gives us some really deep and strong characters. The story itself starts off with an emotional bang and leaves you feeling ragged with every single emotion. These characters have connections and even though life has brought them in so many different directions; the island brings them back to the heart of everything. It’s really surprising how much I enjoyed the story… it was incredibly sweet at times and insanely sexy! I really love the way they discover and find themselves over time… it’s a personal adventure!

“You’re a liar.” The words are like velvet, and his face is set like stone.

“No, I’m not! Now go away from me!”

I shove his chest without forethought and then recoil as fear pounds through me.

“Tell me you don’t want me. C’mon, fucking tell me, Finley. Make it easy.”

“I want you, and I hate it. I hate you!”

“Tell me you don’t want my hands on you. My mouth right there.” His finger points to my throat. I can’t swallow. His hands run down my arms, the warm palms feather-light. His face is grave as all the universe.

I don’t know what it is about that cover but I can’t help but stare at it. Landon has this bad boy gone sweet look that just… it’s endearing! The guy on the cover is exactly how I imagined Landon! Perfecto!! The beginning of this book is just amazing!! It pulled me in and I finished this gorgeous thing within 2 days!!

I felt like I got two books for the price of one. The beginning of the book feels like you’re reading a Young Adult book but the second part feels like an Adult Contemporary. I love both those genres so it was really a win, win for me!! Add in the fact that this was a second chance love story and I was just totally won over!! This is my second Ella James book and her writing style is so descriptive and emotional… her words pull at your emotions and leave your heart a quivering mess!!

Landon and Evie had a unique and heartbreaking story. I found myself muttering at them a lot as they fell into old habits of years past and often was in their own way. I loved the way Landon seemed to remember every detail of Evie after over a decade past. He still recalled the freckles across her face (I mean SWOON). I contemplated the Insta-Love feel of the second part of the book but I feel it wasn’t so much insta-love but destiny bringing them back to where they should have been the whole time. A decade apart doesn’t mean love stops… and Landon and Evie show you what it’s all about!!

Wonderful job Ella James!! This book was an adorable read! It was uber sexy and hot but also sad and powerfully, moving. This was a book that “sticks to your ribs” if you know what I mean. It had meat and sustenance. Full of beauty! I loved it!!
