I hear
music coming from down the hall as I finish putting my glass in the
dishwasher and pause, listening for a moment before going to investigate. Alex
has his bedroom door shut, which is odd, because I’ve never seen it shut except
for the first night I slept here, and I was on the other side of it.
I open the
door cautiously, though I’m not sure why I’m being cautious, and then
I lean my head into the gap curiously.
I find the
room spotless, candles burning on all available spaces, dim light coming from
the table lamp, and Alex across the room, leaning against the wall next to the
bedside table where the slow RnB tune is coming from.
Alex, in his
complete fireman costume.
“I thought you
were brushing your teeth. Why are you—” I stop talking
because he pulls away from the wall and walks to the end of the bed
where he props himself up against the dining chair randomly sitting
there. He taps his hand on the back of it in a silent gesture for me to take a
seat.
The music… the
mood lighting… the chair and the damn costume.
I finally
understand what he’s doing and can’t contain the grin as I follow his request,
entering the room to take the seat.
Alex moves to
stand over me, legs on either side of the chair as his hands trail up my neck,
gathering my hair at the top of my head.
I recognise
when the song ‘Too Close’ by Next, starts playing and I can’t help a little
laugh at the choice before Alex uses his hold of my hair to tilt my head to the
right, exposing my neck. I stop laughing but continue to smile as he leans and
kisses me on the sensitive spot he likes there and then nips my ear, sending a
rush of pleasure through my nerves.
“You ever want
something from me, all you have to do is ask, sunshine. One
all-Alex revue coming right up,” he murmurs against the
skin below my ear, knowing it’s ticklish and making me squirm.

I just LOVE Ash Hosking’s writing!! This group of people is so fun to read about!! Hosking can tell a mean story no matter the length. This is a novella and it’s a super quick and easy read. It was so good though! I really feel that Hosking titles her books so adequately. This book did Surprise Me… which is why I’m not going to go into the story at all. I would suggest you read the entire series though. It’s always fun to get the read about previous characters… it’s like catching up with old friends! Prepare yourself for a quick and fun read! Hosking can suck you in super fast and leave you satisfied, yet wanting more!!

I received an ARC of this series with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

RELEASE DAY: Love Way by Cary Hary

Love War by Cary Hart
(Battlefield of Love book 1)

Release Date: July 20th, 2017
Cover Designer: Passion Creations by Mary Ruth
Genre: Romance Contemporary/Romantic Suspense

What
happens when happily ever after isn't happy? When everything you thought you
knew changes?

Obligation... Marriage
Betrayal... Freedom
Until him. Until her.
Second chances...
Until them.
Deceit... Doubt.

The
past may have won the battles, but can Love win the War?

 PROLOGUE EXCERPT

What happens when happily ever after isn’t so happy? When all your
dreams and plans dissolve into the chaos of everyday life, and are swallowed up
by obligations…
Absolutely nothing.
Hollow.
Empty.
                      Unhappy.
I’m void of all emotions. Struggling to breathe, walking through
life as if a cinder block is tied to my chest. I’m falling deeper into the
unknown.
Drowning.
Dying.
I’m tired. This isn’t what life should be all about. It’s
exhausting trying to fight my way to the top when all I seem to do is sink
further down.
Is there something wrong with me?
Can he see it? Feel it?
I told myself we weren’t obligated to get married. We chose to
become a family. Getting pregnant was a surprise, but we embraced our new reality
and accepted our fate for what it had become.
Ignoring all the signs that pointed to the obvious.
Oblivious.
He was the perfect husband.
Was he?
He was there when we lost the baby. Took care of me in all the
ways a husband should take care of his wife. Reassured me that it wasn’t our
fault, that it wasn’t the right time and we would be blessed when it was. He
could have left. He had an out, but he stayed.
He always stayed.
Something was off. We were never the same after that — or maybe we
were never right to begin with.
Routine.
I did what any good wife would do. I supported him while he
finished his degree and built his career. I put my education and dreams on hold
for him. Volunteered at local charities, kept a clean house, had
dinner on the table nightly and made sure I worked out daily.
He was there for me every step of the way when I finally got
pregnant again six years ago, accompanying me to most of my appointments,
making sure either my mom or his would fill in when work called.
He was a hands-on dad, relieving me of some of the late-night
feedings even when he had to work the next day. I was lucky.
He was on top of things, never forgetting a special day and always
making the moment perfect. I felt perfect…
Until I didn’t.

Cary
Hart hails from the Midwest. A sassy, coffee drinking, sometimes sailor
swearing (Shhh… don’t tell.), wine sipping, Spotify addict, lover of all things
books!

When
not pushing women down the stairs in the fictional world, Cary has her hands
full. She is blessed to be the sports mom of two wild and crazy, spoiled
kiddos, and wife to the most supportive husband (took a few years to train). In
addition to working full time, she bakes cookies on the side to fund her newly
found love of writing and to keep her Sephora VIB Rouge status. The addiction
is real, folks!

Believe
it or not, writing was never a dream for Cary. Reading was something she never
enjoyed growing up. All it took was one friend, who went MIA for a weekend on a
book binge, to share her passion and loan an ebook, lighting a fire inside
her.  Two years, and hundreds of ebooks
later, she connected with one of her favorite authors, who patiently listened
to her plot ideas. Her encouragement and saying those three little words “You
write it!” changed everything!

So,
welcome! Hop on board, and enjoy the ride!

I love a good romance that could really happen in real life. I just really like it when books aren’t just purely fiction and have some things that happened to real people. This book is like that in a way, yeah, there are some things that maybe most people wouldn’t do but there’s also some that people may, and probably have made. We watch Aubrey go through her marriage and divorce and finding her way through a single mother, but also, becoming a person again.

This book was jam-packed with emotion. I really felt like I could relate to Aubrey. Not everything in marriage is easy. People seem to think that if you’re in love that marriage is a cake-walk and just happens. Nope, marriage is work; it’s like another full time job that you have to be completely committed to. I liked that this showed us her trying and not just giving up on it at the first problems. Sometimes it is better to walk away for your child(ren) than to stay for them. I adored Drew too. He was must more reserved.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
