Blurb:
The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old and we shared a summer beneath the stars.

The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart.

We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars...until we both got swept away.

Someone Else’s Ocean was everything, like it ALL!! It made me feel and my heart... my heat ached while reading the words Kate Stewart wrote. They cut strait to my heart. I was so thrilled with the process of this storyline. There are times in life when how you proceed in life matters... what you do when life turns you up on your heels and shakes everything up. Someone Else’s Ocean shows the difficult battle of trying to get through a difficult time.

Can you make it?

Can you heal?

Can you carry-on after life knocks you down?

Koti and Ian have a sordid past and meet again at another time in each other’s lives, right at a pivotal time when life sucks for both of them. Right when the need someone to believe in them, to be there for them. I took so much away from this book. Kate Stewart gives faces to real life problems and she tackles them one-by-one, head on. These characters and storyline was so superb. I really love seeing the characters expand on what started as a troubled friendship, to a strong friendship to so much more. The feelings grew and you could see it developing into more way before they realized what was growing between them.

Ms. Stewart told a story that I can relate to, that I think a lot of people will relate too... dealing with anxiety and needing an escape from every day life. It’s hard. SEO was a heart-warming and touching story. My heart was captivated and I felt so close to this story. Ms. Stewart writes with her heart and soul... you can feel it! The heat in these pages wasn’t just hot, but beautiful. I’m so stuck on the connection that Ms. Stewart created between her characters. This was such a fulfilling story that held me deep inside the pages by my heart from the very start to the very end.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest.

It had been years since I had seen her.

Years since I last saw those eyes with pure, raw innocence.

And I was so wrong.

To claim her as mine was breaking the rules. Boundaries should not be broken.
But temptation weakens my resolve.

With the pull of my dark desires…

I know that I can’t hide from my sinful thoughts—and actions—forever.

We’ve made it to book 4 in the Top Shelf series, Devils & Rye. Now, as with a ton of books/series happening right now these can be read as standalones but, you will enjoy them more and get more, if you read the entire series. Every single one of these books have been an enjoyable 4 star read for me. I’d totally recommend reading them, in order from beginning to the end!

Book 4 gives us Alec and Makayla’s story. I have nothing against an age gap and found theirs and their interactions to be pretty hot. We’ve also got a bit of forbidden fruit with Makayla being Alec’s friends daughter. Alta Hensley is a fantastic writer. Her stories flow and ebb beautifully. It’s always told with this deep, intricate layer. I love the men in this series and Alec continues with this strong, alpha male feeling the Top Shelf series has. I wanted a touch more of darker. I love dark and dirty story and Alta’s are always deliciously dark and dirty. I just wanted a bit more. I also wanted to smack Makayla at times. There were times when it was obvious that she was decades younger than Alec was.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

On the trading floor he became the man he knew he could be. Now, it’s time to return.

Poor boy.
She didn’t care about his money, but he didn’t believe her. Soon after he left, all the money was gone.
Her life is hell.
Now he’s back, and he’s different. Pristine. Gorgeous. Rich.
Rich boy.
Poor girl.
Money was never the barrier, until now.
----
White Knight is a standalone in the same world as King of Code, with its own beginning, middle, and end. You don't need to read anything else to read White Knight.

Excerpt:
I crossed the train tracks, looking both ways as if the freight ran on a thoroughfare. It was a few steps to the rows of mobile homes that defined that side of Barrington.

The playground was in a little clearing just west of the center of the trailers. My fingertips were cold, but the rest of my body thrummed and pulsed so hard that I made my own heat. I told myself I didn’t know what to expect from this meeting, but if I didn’t know what to expect, I knew what to hope, and they were pretty much the same thing.

“Catherine!” Chris wasn’t loud, but the excitement in his voice made him sound as if he were shouting.

“Chris?” I spun around, looking for him in the darkness.

And on a three-quarter turn, he crashed into me, all lips and hands, digging his fingertips into the muscles of my back as he pulled me close. I tasted the minty toothpaste in his mouth and thought he brushed his teeth for me. He kissed me as if he would never kiss me again. He kissed me as if this was the last kiss he would ever have in his life. As if he wanted to eat me alive. I’d given over my freedom and my choice to this thing with him, to this moment, to this stupid set of choices that would ruin me forever. As surely as the sun would rise, I was the designer of my own destruction.

I wanted to be destroyed by that kiss.

When Chris took my hand, I imagined I could feel the blood pulsing through the veins, the cells in his skin. I imagined that when my nerve endings vibrated at his touch, they connected to his somehow.

Everything felt new. I was discovering that my body had routes between one place and another that I never knew existed. I never knew that when a man touched my hand or kissed my nipples, I could feel it between my legs.

There was a click behind the tree line, and he stopped kissing me with a jerk. We froze long enough for him to smile.

I love when a book goes back and forth between past and present. Catherine is so friggin sweet and kind.  She comes from a rich family that pretty much owned the town during her childhood. But the times have changed and Catherine is now selling off her life bit by bit just to get by now. She met and fell in love while she was a teenager to Chris. Chris isn’t from the same world as Catherine. Life came to a screeching halt when they are busted. They are ripped apart and separated.

I liked Chris. I don’t really like that he was MIA for years. As much as he said he loved Catherine, he just left her. Some of that situation really rubbed me the wrong way. I do, however, liked that he wanted to make more of himself. That he set out to get the life he wanted for him and Catherine. He might not have been with her but he loved her. CD Reiss can tell a fantastic second chance story with a bit of young love thrown in. White Knight was a super sweet story with some really intense and steamy parts. Plus throwing in the rich girl/poor boy part of this book… who would have known life would swap their roles later in life?!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

About the Author
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
