Alta Hensley is one of my favorite dark romance writers.  I wish I could properly explain how much I love this series! Hensley has created this villain that you can’t help but fall for. There really isn’t much that is hotter than a venerable villain struggling with falling in love. Hensley creates the perfect storylines with the dark and light and the struggle for a balance between the two. My only beef with this book was I felt like I grazed on the characters… I wanted IN them! I wanted to feel this connection you get but I didn’t have much more than a strong liking… which is still good, great even when you feel for the people.

I’m not huge into highlighting in my kindle and marking passages. However, this book was different. There were so many parts that spoke to me. I feel like I highlighted ¼ of this book! One of my favorite quotes was:

"My demons danced with his. A morbid tango of torment and terror had occurred that very moment our eyes had locked. He got me. I got him. Flawed in the worst of ways, yet our darkness blended so perfectly."

I felt like I could relate to that so much! Those sentences work, even for people who aren’t that dark and who aren’t tormented. We usually know someone struggling with it. So yeah, I see myself in those words. It’s seriously delightful when you can relate personally to the authors words. 

Harley Crow is the co-owner of Spiked Roses, he’s an assassin; Crow is scary and a vicious killer. Marlow Masters works at Spiked Roses and has a mega crush on Harley, ok, it might be slightly obsessive. She really wants him to notice her and the club "tasting" coming up is the perfect chance! Harley and Marlow had some smokin’ hot chemistry! Marlow gives Harley a partner in the darkness and lights up the darkness. They are so much more than just their heat. Harley finally starts to see himself as more than a killer, he sees a man. What’s he going to do with it now that he’s found it, and her?

There are just so many Indie authors out there that I feel like I’m constantly saying this is the first time I’ve read a book by so and so but here I do again… this is the first book I have read of M. Never’s but oh, my word… where have I been hiding? I LOVED this book! I love reading any book where the lead woman character is a serious bad ass!! Stevie was an amazing character! I was totally in her dark little corner routing her on!

Stevie was born into nothing. She was neglected, raped, beaten, and then turned into a killer. Who better to be a silent killer than a woman who was abused ruthlessly? She was the perfect contract killer… a woman, no one sees a woman coming to kill ya! It was almost an about-face when Stevie meets Baz. She puts everything on the line for a mark. It seemed a bit far-fetched after all her training but I went with it. I’m glad I was able to skip over that oddity, because this book was one heck of a ride! I’m glad I rode it!

M. Never writes a fascinating story of lies, deceit, and hot passionate love that will leave you transfixed, all while being agitated… it’s remarkable. This is a story where nothing should be taken at face-value. It’s a dark and twisted ride! There is no knowing where you’re going until you’re there.
