REVIEW: The Cabin by Jasinda Wilder
Sometimes the epilogue to one story is the beginning of another.
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Jasinda Wilder comes an all-new, emotionally gripping novel, The Cabin, available now!
One year ago, I buried my husband.
One year ago, I held his hand and said goodbye.
Now I spend most of my days lost somewhere between trying to remember every smallest detail of our lives, and trying to forget it all. I fill my hours with work until I’m too exhausted to remember him, to feel anything at all.
One year, 365 days—and then one knock at my door changes everything. A letter from him, a last request, a secret will:
My dearest Nadia,
Trust me, my love. One last time, trust me. Sometimes the epilogue to one story is the beginning of another.

I sent this to
message to the author just the other day.... Jasinda Wilder just wrote a book
that brought me to my knees. I was moved, my heart played with while I was busy
sobbing. Using my salty tears to produce another ocean. Perhaps this book hit
me a little closer to home. While my husband doesn't have the "C"
word, he has an autoimmune disorder and I'm scared all the time about what
COULD happen. So perhaps I'm a bit sensitive to the storyline.
Jasinda Wilder wrote a touching story. One that will leave readers grappling
for tissues. But it isn’t just a tear-jerker it is a story about hope. It's
about love... real love. Love that only comes around once in a lifetime.
Wilder's writing was flawless, achingly so. This has to be the best work that I
have read from her. I think im going to be looking for a romantic comedy now...
a little something to lighten my aching heart.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased
Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my
opinions are just that... my opinions.

“No,” said the bodyguard.
“But—”
“Miss, do you have any idea how many people try to get backstage by claiming they have some sort of relationship with Mr. Dillon?” Face a careful blank, the man in the slick black suit stared down at me. He had a point. I’d pushed through a crush of fans, getting my toes stomped on several times, along with taking an elbow to the kidney, just to talk to this guy. God only knew what it took to get near the star of the show.
“I’d imagine a lot,” I yelled back at him. Necessary given the volume of the music filling the space. “The difference here is I’m not lying.”
“But since everyone says that, you can see from my perspective how that’s not actually a point of difference.”
Adam Dillon, rock star extraordinaire, gyrated his slim denim-clad hips like an Alt-Rock Elvis on the nearby stage. He pouted and crooned about the woman who’d done him wrong. Me. That’s right, I was the big bad ex who’d broken him and woke him to the dangers of love. Or so the song said.
The song lied and then some.
According to the lyrics he was currently wailing, I’d ground his heart beneath my five-inch heels before blowing him a kiss goodbye. From memory, there’d been a lot of shouting, but no blowing of kisses. And having just kicked off the flats I wore for work, I’d been barefoot, my legs and back aching. No way had I been strutting around in stilettos. Home from a hard day at the hair salon, I’d returned to find Adam on the couch. The same place he’d been when I’d left for work approximately eleven hours earlier. The same place he’d been for what felt like months as I worked my ass off to pay the rent. That’s when all hell broke loose. However, it wasn’t the only issue that had caused our relationship to bomb. Nothing’s ever simple.
But back to the here and now. I grabbed the slip of paper out of my front pocket, holding it up for his perusal. “My name is Jill Schwartz. How many of those people claiming to know him have one of these?”
His eyes widened as he scanned the name on the check, before widening again at the amount. And fair enough too. I’d had a mild panic attack myself when it had first arrived. When Adam decided to make a statement, he didn’t bother with subtle. If only I could figure out what it all meant. If it meant anything at all, of course. And that question was what had brought me here tonight.

REVIEW TOUR: The Bribe by Willa Nash (Devney Perry)
The Bribe by Willa Nash is now live!
Duke Evans didn't expect to interrupt a beautiful woman in a staring contest with a bison on his favorite hiking trail. He also didn't expect to see her again after rescuing her from the surly beast. As the sheriff in Calamity, Montana, he's had his fair share of surprises but none as pleasant as pulling over a shiny black car and finding his mysterious hiking companion behind the wheel.
Only, she lied to Duke. She gave him a name as fake as her hair color. According to her driver's license, her real name is Lucy Ross, the famous country music singer whose sudden disappearance has been a hot topic in the media over the past two weeks.
He's not sure why Lucy lied about her identity or why she's in Calamity. And she's not talking. Instead, she offers him a bribe to keep her secret.
But Duke doesn't want her money. He wants to know why this woman is on the run. And as long as the star shines on his badge, he's going to find out.

UNPUTDOWNABLE!!!
I was obsessed with this
story... O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D!!!
I think we all have those author's that seem to hit just what
we want in our characters. Willa Nash (Devney Perry) does that for me.
Duke Evans is just what I want from my leading men, besides the truly fabulous
name, Evans has a heart of gold. He's honest and hard-working, he's a man of
honor and integrity. He was sweet, oh so sweet with all the right words to melt
a country girls’ heart. He is totally the alpha male without coming off as a
controlling jerk. He wanted to be partners with Jade, not control her. I
appreciated that since I'm more into that in a man than men who control
everything. And Jade. Jade is strong. She might have run from her
problems but that doesn't make her weak. There's nothing weak about this woman.
She just needs to clear her mind and regroup. Luckily for her, she gets pulled
over by the charming and handsome Duke Evans.
This might be Willa Nash's debut novel but her alter ego,
Devney Perry is no stranger to a fantastically written story with characters
that I found myself rooting for. The writing was creative and fun. I spent a
good 50% of this story wondering what Jade's story was. The mystery and
suspense were completely engaging. I could not have pulled myself away if I
wanted too... which I most definitely did not want to do! I'm always happy to
visit Montana along with Devney Perry. I've never been west of Missouri, but
that doesn't hinder Perry's visualization via words. She paints the most
beautiful scenes and people with just her words. I'm so looking forward to The
Bluff!!

Duke Evans was as addictive as hot stage lights and a silky, Southern
twang.
He’d almost kissed me. And I’d almost let him. I’d find a way to get
over this bribe issue if it meant indulging my crush on the local sheriff.
Sure, things would get awkward when I brought him a wad of cash. After all,
maybe the reason he’d almost kissed me was for the money.
The woman who hadn’t been kissed in a long, long time didn’t care.
“What’s your plan for the rest of the day?” Duke asked as he drove
toward the farmhouse. He rolled down the windows and the breeze tousled the
long strands of hair that had escaped his hat.
“Not much. I’ve been on a baking spree.”
“What’d you make?” he asked, his voice low and smooth.
Duke drove with one hand on the wheel while his other arm was propped on
the console between us. I hadn’t really noticed a man’s driving posture before,
but as with everything Duke, the should-have-been-mundane details jumped out at
me like fireworks. His entire demeanor shouted confidence. He was so relaxed in
his skin and sexy as hell. The man was driving and I was practically drooling.
He glanced over and raised an eyebrow. Right. He’d asked me a question.
I faced forward and unscrambled my brain. “Cookies. Cinnamon rolls.
Banana muffins.”
“You’ve been busy.”
“There’s not much else for me to do. Going from a hare’s speed to turtle
pace has been an adjustment. At this point, I’m searching for things to do.
Hence the running this morning.”
“My mom’s a teacher. She always says it takes her a couple of weeks
every summer to slow down and transition from kid wrangler to domestic
goddess.” He reached into the cupholder and plucked out a packet of gum. “Want
one?”
“Sure.” I unfolded the wrapper and popped the sweet mint stick into my
mouth as he did the same, then I opened my mouth to say something and . . . whoa.
We were rolling through a different neighborhood than the one I’d walked
through, but instead of staring at the homes and getting my bearings, my
attention was locked on the bob of Duke’s Adam’s apple and the flex of his
strong, square jaw.
I bet he had a talented tongue. My experience with men was relatively
limited—fame was a jealous lover and wanted nothing more than your undivided
attention—but if a man could chew gum like that, I bet his tongue knew its way
around a woman’s lips.
And other places.

Hate is a strong word.
Depending on the company, loathe is a good substitute. Abhor might be a little fancy, but it gets the job done. But the word that really sums up how I feel about Liam Darcy is, without question, hate.
He doesn’t seem to think much of me either. The second he lays his fault-seeking eyes on me, he sets out to oppose me. Everything about him is imposing, as if he consumes the nearby air to power the rise and fall of his broad chest, and it’s clear he resents my presence on his advertising team. Every idea I have is shot down. Every olive branch I offer is set on fire by nothing more than the blistering coals he calls eyes.
In return, I light him up with my words.
It’s not as if he can dismiss me, since I work for his client, Wasted Words. Instead, he’s forced to tolerate me, which seems the closest we’ll ever be to friends. Fine by me.
I can be civil and still hate Liam Darcy.
But if there’s more to him than his exterior shows, I won’t be able to hate him at all. I might stumble over that line between love and hate and fall right into his arms.
