So there I was selling bikinis out of my truck in South Beach Miami, getting ready to kick off a wet t-shirt contest when the world’s biggest grouch approached me - Keller Fitzwilliam.

The man had the sultriest British accent I've ever heard. And he looked like he just walked off a Viking boat and into a suit tailored specifically for his impressively muscular frame. Only problem is, he had the warmth of an ice pick and he kept telling me he was here to take me back to his home country.

Of course, I didn't follow him. I might be up for a good time, but I'm also educated enough to know leaving with a stranger isn't smart. Well, that's until he mentioned my mom's name. My mom who passed away several years ago.

So after some serious fact-checking, my bikini-clad bum went with him to a sub-arctic country I had never heard of just north of the British Isles, where I found out my grandpa was the king of said freezing country, and I was the one and only heir.

Desperate to learn more about my mom, I decided to give this princess thing a chance.

Good idea, right? Wrong.

Because Mr. Ice Pick was put to the task of training me and he’s not just cold as ice, he’s pompous, aggravating, and possessive. And did I mention we have to share a bathroom in a tiny castle?

We are oil and water every single day and even though he’s training me to be queen, I have this simmering desire to kneel before him.

I loved the premise of Royally Not Ready, it gave off a Princess Diaries vibe meets something super naughty and hawt!! Lilly Campbell was the last woman that should be a long-lost princess. She was loud, a serious free spirit in Miami hosing people down in wet T-shirt contests, and a bit classless… sorry Lilly. Keller’s job is to train her and he has his work cut out for him. Lilly learns that she has grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even cousins she knew nothing about. I really wanted a bit more of the relationship building between her new-found family and with Keller. I was shocked that I didn’t feel this huge connection between Keller and Lilly besides their sexual tension.

I think this is the first Meghan Quinn book that I have ever not rated 5-stars. I’m not sure what was so different but Royally Not Ready didn’t hit the mark for me. It was slightly a bit long-winded and I expected way more laughs. Don’t get me wrong, it is witty and entertaining but it just didn’t humor me like usual. I don’t know, Royally Not Ready was not my favorite from Quinn. However, I will never give up on her. I’ll be waiting on her next book and eager for it just like always. The narrators, Emma Wilder and John Hartley did a great job bringing their characters to life. Wilder played Lilly great. She was fun and upbeat and still brought out the emotion when it was called for. Hartley was an amazing Keller. I definitely enjoyed the accent, and it fit. Hartley’s voice and tone just really fit Keller’s no-nonsense way.

This has got to be my absolute favorite Tarryn Fisher novel this far. Rainy is the main character, she's an artist that moved from NYC to Washington for her boyfriend Grant. After moving there, she's introduced to Grant's group of friends and she starts attending girls nights, lovingly referred to as the Tiger Mountain Group. One night Rainy is invited to a girl's trip to Las Vegas with them Rainy is private and doesn't want to go. Grant pushes though and Rainy finally gives in. This is the start to the undoing... Rainy has a past that she's never shared with her boyfriend, let alone her new friends and going to Vegas brings her right back to her past's front door.

I really enjoyed the entire story told from Rainy's perspective. We alternate between past and present. I'm thrilled Fisher gave us the entire back story about what happened with Rainy is her past life. I feel like it added some real definition to the storyline. Plus it gives us several antagonists to choose from while we're working our way through the story and wondering who is doing what. An Honest Lie kept me interested the entire story. At no point was the story lagging or boring. I feel like that's something that's almost impossible these day as most follow a slow storyline for the first 3/4 of the book just to hit you with action that last quarter. That isn't the case here... this is full of action.
