The boy next door. That’s what he was. Dash Frasier—my hero from the day we met, when I was six and he was nine. His sister was my best friend, the three of us one happy crew. Then one sweaty summer night changed everything.
No one understood me like Dash. No one made me feel so loved. That’s why, when he skipped town, it wrecked me.
Now I’m older. Wiser. I’ve just snagged my dream job, writing at a film studio. The lead animator on my project? You guessed it.
He’s not the boy next door. Not anymore.
I’m guarding my heart this time.
But Dash has secrets that could break us both.

══ More about this Book ══
After that close-up of his package on the sailboat in Morocco, TMZ started calling him Crown Jewels.
Not that I keep track of Prince Liam. Definitely don’t stalk him online like my friends do.
I’m out of that scene now. My family’s reality show might still be running, but I’ve been off-screen for a while. When people pass me on the sidewalk, they might squint, but most of them don’t scream “Lucy Rhodes” and ask about my love of Lucky Charms or how my broken toe healed.
Prince Liam—my stalking his Instagram—that’s just for fun. It’s my dirty little secret. Trust me, I’m the only woman in the world who doesn’t actually want him.
Except I’m back in the Hamptons for the first time in two years. I’m at a party, and Prince Manwhore is here as well. I tell myself that smile has no effect on me. That his ridiculous charisma is a parlor trick I see right through.
After our one night together, no one knows that I succumbed.
It doesn’t matter. It meant nothing.
Not until I see those two pink lines.
There have been some seriously excellent books out lately! I adored every work of The Boy Next Door by Ella James! James takes us on an incredible journey of first loves, loss, hopes, friendships, dreams… just everything! This book… it’s just touching… maybe it’s the story of their early years that touched me. Such a sweet beginning… the bonds that were formed were just beautiful.
So Amelia… I LOVED her!! Everything about her character was just relatable to me! I totally wanted to be her bestie! I felt like she needed a friend after losing on she wanted so desperately. Amelia is a bold woman that gives with all she is. If she can, she will… especially for those people she loves. She totally wears her heart right there on her sleeve for everyone to see. But… she isn’t a push over. She is sassy and just whipsmart. She’s a strong person and a bit gullible. I wanted to friend, not only to give her the friend she so desperately wanted, but to also to tell her to smarten up! Come on lady! LOL
Dash… oh Dash… the many faces of Dash! He is so complex! He sounds so sexy and he’s totally Amelia’s hero! Dash is the man all men have been fashioned after! I loved how they are both so fiercely attracted to each other but try to fight it (ok, ok, Dash fights it and Amelia fights Dash!). She’s younger than him and his best friend and his sister’s best friend… it’s complicated. Of course, Ella James makes it even more complicated with her twists you don’t see coming!!
James’ writing is breath-taking. She pulls you and doesn’t give a second to grasp for air. She seriously builds the “boy next door” and makes him the most swoonable man EVA!!! Do you like it when books touch your heart and pull every single emotion from you? Yes… this book is PERFECT for you. There’s everything… grief, love, friendship, happiness, lust, romance, irritation, resentment, did I mention love and lust? I feel like we got to live their entire lives with them and it was just a beautifully, heartbreakingly, amazing ride.
This is a book I will come back too! It is a book 2 but can be read as a standalone. I didn’t even realize it was a second book until after I read it. So I plan on going back to the Crown Jewels to read. Then since I love The Boy Next Door so hard… I’m going to reread it. I’m not big into rereading since my TBR is HUGE but, I loved this book. I don’t know, it touched me and I want more from Dash and Amelia. I want there to be a book 3 so I can get a bit more from them and a ton more from Ella James!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
