I really wasn’t sure if Jordan was going to be a redeemable guy. I’m not a fan of bully romances, like at all. But The Boy Next Door is more like an enemies to lovers romance than bullies. Yes, Jordan was a jerk. He wasn’t a nice guy during his teenage years and he was too into not putting himself out there to avoid being hurt by Amelia. I think he knew that Amelia was the end all and he just wasn’t ready… not many people are ready to end their dating experiences at nearly the first one. So yeah, I liked this one. I felt like Jordan was able to show why he acted as he did. He’s really a sweet and wholesome guy.
“When it comes to you, Lia, you’ve always made me stupid. Stupid for leaving you. Stupid for the things I said and did. And stupid now, to think I’m good enough for you.”
With a guy saying things like that, how can you not be lost?!?! And let’s be real, Amelia wasn’t an angel. They both made mistakes. They just needed to know if they were worth risking it all for something more… for something that could be wonderful. Sierra Hill is the queen of sweet and swoon. My heart was lost to this cast of characters. I had an inkling that some of the characters that were mentioned were from some of the other books in this series. This didn’t ruin any of the other books but was used to connect them, I’m sure.
I’ve struggled reading actual books over the last few months. Audiobooks I’m flying through but actually reading means I need to sit still and empty my mind for the story. This might be my third or fourth book in the last 4 months, everything else has been audio. Miss Hill was able pull me in quickly and keep me hooked… believe me, that is no easy feat as of late.
