About THE OTHER BROTHER:

Every choice has a consequence.

Charlotte Thompson knows it all too well. On the run from her past, she hopes to start over in her new home. To keep her secret safe, she must avoid getting close to anyone. The last thing she wants is to get involved with the town’s notorious bad boy.

Tanner Brooks is forever doomed to live in the shadow of his older sibling. Regarded as troubled and brooding, he’s seen as nothing more than the other brother. That all changes when a striking new girl captures Tanner’s attention. Charlotte gives him something to feel other than heartache and rage. Determined to prove himself, he will do anything for her … even if it means putting his life on the line.

Between Tanner’s unwavering pursuit and Charlotte’s wavering defenses, sparks fly. But when Charlotte’s past catches up to her, she is forced to face the consequences of her actions. What’s worse, Tanner is taken along for the ride. Charlotte needs to save Tanner from her mess and keep them both alive.

This is an opposites attract, standalone romance about first love, finding your strength, and learning how to forgive not only others, but yourself.

Kristen Granata tells just the story we all want for Tanner in The Other Brother. I think we’ve all either been that person or know a person that lives in the shadow of another people. This is Tanner’s life. He’s really struggled with it. He’s put his life and dreams on hold to support his family and here he is living in the shadow. I seriously understand his bitterness. Man do I get it. He feels defeated. Until Charlotte. I love the light that gets lit under him. I felt his story… beautifully.

Miss Granata wrote strait to my heart. She really gives us a story we can all understand and feel for. I feel like the entire story has come full circle. Tanner got a story that he seriously deserves. Granata develops her characters so beautifully… they are deep and layered. I feel so much positivity from the story. I loved finding the real Tanner under all his aloofness. While I love the development of the people in this book, what made me devour it was the drama… the suspense. I really love a book that feels so unputdownable! Great story! Keep em coming Kristen Granata!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Charlotte

“Watch out!”

One of the football-playing boys jumped backwards to reach for his friend’s overthrown pass and crashed into my tray. My soda spilled all over my shirt, soaking the ends of my hair. Sauce from the pizza remnants on my plate smeared against my chest. All the boys shouted in unison, as if they were at a live football game, making me feel all the more horrified. So much for blending in.

“Nice throw, dipshit!” Mallory screeched to the boy who had thrown the football. “Come on. We’re going to be late.”

I picked up the empty cup from the floor and tossed it into the trash as I walked toward the exit. I took the door Mallory was holding open for me and walked outside. “Alright, how dumb do I look?”

“Dumb, no. Wet rat, yes.”

Great. We walked briskly down the path, attempting to make it to our building before Professor Ballard started calling attendance. Everyone would already stare at us for walking in after the lecture began; my soaked and sauce-stained shirt would only cause them to stare longer.

Just then, I heard the sound of footsteps hitting the sidewalk behind me. Clutching my purse, I spun around. Both confusion and curiosity collided in my mind.

Tanner Brooks was chasing after me.

Tanner

Mallory leaned in to Charlotte’s ear. “Keep walking.”

What the fuck did I ever do to Mal? I slowed to a walk beside Charlotte. She stiffened, keeping her gaze fixed straight ahead. “Gabe’s a nice guy, but he’s not exactly a gentleman.”

“What?” She turned her striking blue eyes toward me.

I tore my shirt over my head and held it out to her. “You’re going to be cold sitting in class with a wet shirt.”

Her eyes traveled down my torso. Now I had her attention. Girls were so easy. Flash a six-pack at them, and they start drooling.

“Uh … n-no. No thanks.”

No?

“That must be such a foreign word to you.” Mallory snickered.

“Fuck off, Mal.” I looked back at Charlotte, whose eyes were still glued to my body. Good. She was interested. “Charlotte, I’m Tanner.” I draped my shirt over her shoulder and offered her the slight smirk I knew girls loved. “It’s nice to meet you.”

I turned around before she could reject me again and strutted back in the direction of the cafeteria. Let her get a look at my ass as I walk away. It’s a fan favorite.

About Kristen Granata:

Kristen Granata is a teacher by day, and an (exhausted) author by night. Known for writing emotional New Adult Romance, she loves creating realistic, flawed characters who struggle through the darkest parts of life and come out stronger on the other side. Kristen is a self-proclaimed "bitter cynic trapped in a hopeless romantic's body." Her characters pack a sarcastic punch, make you laugh, make you think, make you ugly cry - and they will always live happily ever after. If you're a lover of moving, inspirational reads, Kristen's your girl.

Kristen was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1986. She moved to Staten Island with her family and lived there for almost twenty years. There she attended community college and became a teacher. Despite her passion for writing, and despite her professors strongly suggesting she become a writer, she took the more sensible route (bitter cynic, remember?) After going through a difficult divorce when she was only twenty-nine, Kristen returned to writing. The raw story that poured out of her led her to publish her debut novel, Collision, in March of 2018. Soon after in August 2018, the sequel, Avoidance, was published. Her third novel, The Other Brother, releases on April 23rd.

Kristen openly shares her mental health struggles with depression and anxiety with her Instagram following. Her message is a beacon of hope to anyone who is suffering: You are not alone. She delicately weaves this theme into her writing, and demonstrates the ability of love to heal trauma.

When she's not teaching or writing, Kristen is reading, Instagramming, indulging in her messy love affair with popcorn, and annoying her wife and step-daughters by incessantly singing along to The Greatest Showman soundtrack.
