REVIEW: Recipe for Love by Anne Malcom

Recipe for Love by Anne Malcom

Contemporary Romance

Release Date: December 27, 2020

Blurb:

Nora Henderson is of the opinion that chocolate cures almost everything.
Which, among a few other reasons, is why she opened her bakery in the small town of Jupiter, Maine five years ago.
People come from miles for her chocolate peanut butter cupcakes. Customers almost come to blows over the last almond croissant. Some even say her chocolate chip cookies help ease the burn of heartbreak.
Nora’s life is good. On the surface, at least.
Underneath the frosting and the sweet décor of her bakery is a broken engagement, doubt and anxiety spirals.

In short, Nora Henderson is a mess.

Not someone Rowan Derrick would ever be interested in. He’s the gruff veteran who owns a construction company, who broods his way around town and can wear the crap out of a backward baseball cap.
He stars in almost every one of her fantasies. She expected him to stay there, to remain her imaginary boyfriend and customer … nothing else.

But Rowan Derrick has had his eye on Nora for a while. Little does she know, she stars in every one of his fantasies too. And now that the beautiful baker is no longer engaged, he’s going to make her his.

My Review:

It's been quite a while since I've actually read a book. Sure, I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks this year but reading an actual book hasn't happened in a long time, especially romance books. Who knew it would be an insta-love romance from Anne Malcom? Who knew it would be a light romance from Anne Malcom? I never saw this coming! Recipe for Love is sugary sweet! Nora is a baker, a baker that struggles with pretty severe anxiety. She's recently broken off her engagement from a guy she settled for. Nora is finally realizing she deserves more. Rowan is partial owner of his construction company with Kip, his best friend. The group of characters in this story are amazing! Fiona, Kip, Tina, even glimpses of Lori and Finn, plus Rowan's family. Anyways, Rowan is all over Nora from the get-go. They seem to have an immediate connection and an immediate sexual attraction.

I was beyond thrilled to read Malcom's acknowledgements and see that she's writing Kip and Fiona's story now. Plus we'll be getting several other books from Jupiter... I'm ecstatic to hear that! I think what I loved the most from Recipe for Love is that while it's sugary sweet, it's more than that too. It's definitely not as dark or as hard as most of Malcom's books. There is some traumatic events tied to military life, there's mental health struggles, loss and grief, and addiction. There's also a nice balance with humor and fun, with steamy, hot scenes and even some fun banter. There's truly something that every romance reader is going to love with this story. Malcom's writing captivated me and I just fell into this story. I'm eagerly awaiting book two in this series!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
