RELEASE DAY: Gypsy King by Devney Perry

GYPSY KING
Tin Gypsy #1
By Devney Perry
Release Date: October 29

The former Tin Gypsy motorcycle club has everyone in Clifton Forge, Montana, convinced they’ve locked their clubhouse doors and ripped off their patches. Everyone but Bryce Ryan. There’s more happening at the club’s garage than muscle car restorations and Harley rebuilds. Her instincts are screaming there’s a story—one she’s going to tell.

As the new owner of the small town’s newspaper, Bryce is hungry for more than birth announcements and obituaries. When a woman is brutally killed and all signs point to the Tin Gypsies, Bryce is determined to expose the club and their leader, Kingston “Dash” Slater, as murderers.

Bryce bests Dash match after match, disappointed her rugged and handsome opponent turns out to be an underwhelming adversary. Secrets are exposed. Truths defeat lies. Bryce is poised to win this battle in a landslide.

Then Dash breaks all the rules and tips the scales.

One kiss, and she’s fighting to save more than just her story.

She’s fighting to save her heart from the Gypsy King.

If you've read Devney Perry previously and loved her, than I’d say there is a huge possibility that you'll love Gypsy King as well. However, let me just say while this may be the same author that created the Jamison series or Lark Cove, it's like she turned her own light off and went darker with the Gypsy King. I loved her older series but I might be a tad obsessed with the first book in Tin Gypsy series. The writing in GK still has that fluid, descriptive feel of all other Devney Perry novels. Gypsy King has a gritty, dark edge and I was lost to it.

The characters have strong personalities and they both seem to want to be in control. It’s a battle of wits! Bryce and King are like oil and butter… they work well separately… but if you combine them you can make it even hotter! The dirty talk and sexual tension in GK was thick like fog. These two had instant chemistry. I loved the portrayal of the small town newspaper in Montana. I actually work for one in Vermont. We have a small weekly paper with just 8 employees with half only being part-time. So she did good showcasing the struggle of small town news. I found myself laughing a few times in the beginning with Bryce’s boredom. I swear, there are times I hall asleep sitting right up at my desk!

Anyways, Gypsy King is another grand slam for Mrs. Perry. Her writing it deeper and darker with this push, pull between the main characters. I also felt she developed the town and secondary characters perfectly. I’m also astonished by Perry’s writing. Even though GK is so different from her “usual work” it is just as perfect, if not more. I admire when authors stand strong behind a story that talked to them. There’s a ton of secrets and lies but after time, a trust is built and things start to get a bit confusing when it seemed so simple at first!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
