I left home ten years ago, promising myself I’d never return to the place where I had never been accepted. I was despised and ridiculed for circumstances completely beyond my control.
But when my grandmother passes away, I’m forced to return to Kansas. I will have to face everyone who hated me. But they’re not who I’m most afraid of.
My biggest fear? Facing him.
Jordan Marx.
The boy I once loved more than life itself. The boy who defended me from them. The boy I’d disappeared on, leaving him nothing more than a horrible nasty lie and hastily scribbled note.
When Jordan finds out the secret I have carried for so long, I’m in for the battle of my life.
Or so I thought.
I might have wandered for years on a path riddled with thorns but with Jordan by my side, taking the long road home means more than reuniting with the only man I’ve ever loved. It might just mean finding myself, and the family I never thought I could ever have along the way.

I didn’t realize this was a book 3 in a series, the Love in the Heartland series. It didn’t affect this story at all. I’m sure the secondary characters have their own stories but I’m not worried about it. In the Long Road Home, Stacy Lynn gives us the story of Jordan and Destiny in my favorite, dual POVs. I looked Stacy Lynn up after reading this and saw she has a ton of books! I have no idea how this is the first book I’ve read of hers, however, I’m going to have to fix that… I know I need to read the books in the series at the very least.

Both Destiny and Jordan have so many regrets from their time together. Jordan was a fantastically normal character. He was sweet but a bit gruff and hard. I loved him and his sister, Rebecca, banter and fun together. It definitely made me want to read more about them. Anyway, you can tell he’s just a bit jaded by his past with Destiny. I was so completely endeared by his alpha male role and how his thoughts were pretty sexual. He had me hooting with laughter several times but his “caveman” thoughts made me literally cry with laughter…

“Bed. Woman. Fuck. Mine.”

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Destiny since I was so head over heels with Jordan but the more I read, the more I adored her. Nothing has been easy for her. Everyone always blames her for everything even their actions. She was so scared to return home. She was always so ashamed of her biggest regret, leaving Jordan with a simple note… I mean, who does that when you’re dreaming of forever with the other person. This was a hard betrayal to swallow.

I seriously enjoy a good second chance story with secrets… big secrets. This one was a bit timely for me with the secrets our loved ones keep. I think that has to be why my heart lurched back and forth but it did lurch back and forth and up and down. Destiny and Jordan have such a deep and mutual love and desire… they have to see if they can get past the secrets, the lies, the leaving. Stacy Lynn wrote a captivating story. I’m really excited to read more from this author.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
