First, this cover… wowzas!! I don’t know if it’s the guy…
the darkness that is the cover with that deep red, the cigar, I don’t know but
I look at it and all of a sudden its 5 minutes later and I’m still looking at
it. So, maybe LP Lovell put some type of hypnotic characteristic in it? That
has to be it!! Is it weird that I really REALLY wish it had highlighted Anna? I
would have loved having a face, of innocence and darkness, on this cover.
So
obviously I have a thing for Anna. I just don’t understand how after being sold
at the impressionable age of 13 she can still be as strong as she is. It doesn’t
matter that she uses drugs to get by… honestly, after some of the sick and
twisted things she’s lived through I can’t fathom that she still has some fight
in her. Rafael is after paying off an owed debt. However, meeting Anna changes
something in his cold and dark heart!
Hate
Me was a super strong story. It really was a super slow burn, which was perfect
for Anna’s character. It showed a ton of respect for Anna from Rafael and I
love that! I wasn’t digging Rafael one way or the other but this just put him
way over the top for me! LP Lovell writes about this “world” perfectly. It’s
the same world as the Kill Me and Kiss Me books. The writing was just what I
expect from Lovell. I know it seems picky that I’m giving it a 4 star rating
but there just wasn’t anything hugely special. It was good but no huge ommph,
for me anyway. I am looking forward to the next installment though.
