Holy mother of…. What did you do to me LJ Shen?!?! I can’t
even form a coherent thought right now! I’m impressed, like in complete and utter
awe of Shen’s writing skills. This, Midnight Blue by LJ Shen is my first TOP
BOOK of 2018 that is completely OFF THE CHARTS! This one is getting the special
“mark” for the end of the year and I’m thinking about the most amazing books of
the year… this is my first one. I can NOT share a single bit of information on
this book… it isn’t fair and I refuse to ruin a person’s reading experience
because this book was P E R F E C T!!!!
So, what makes this book so P E R F E C T? Yes, this I can tell you. First, Shen is remarkably
talented. Her stories are written to break our hearts. Her words hold such
strength and power that her words just fly off the page and into our minds.
Second, her characters are perfectly and imperfectly flawed. For being
fictional characters, Shen does a remarkable job of giving the feeling that
they are real. I felt anger for Indi and a bit of pity for Alex. I felt
heartache for fictional characters. That is what makes Midnight Blue so
special. Thirdly and finally, I was so consumed by this book that I finished
over night instead of sleeping. Who needs sleep for work? Right? OK, I’m
dragging today. That is the power of this book… I was sucked in, latched on…
there was no way I was closing my Kindle app without reading the last word.
