A Little Too Late by Staci Hart

Publishing Date: October 24th, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I wasn't supposed to fall in love with the nanny.
When my wife left, she took the illusion of happiness with her, and I've been caught in a free fall ever since. For nine long months, I've been fighting to figure out how to be a single dad, how to be alone.
For nine long months, I've been failing.
When Hannah walked through the door, I took my first breath since I'd found myself on my own. She slipped into our lives effortlessly, showing me what I've been missing all these years. Because Hannah made me smile when I thought I'd packed the notion of happiness away with my wedding album.
She was only supposed to be the nanny, but she's so much more.
The day my wife left should have been the worst day of my life, but it wasn't. It was when Hannah walked away, taking my heart with her.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Connect with Staci:

This is my favorite Staci Hart book EVER!!! There was something wonderful about Charlie... even the little bit we saw of him in A Thousand Letters. Charlie will make you want to be a better parent. He will make you do a bit of self reflection. Only we have the power to change who we are and how we live our life.

I don’t usually highlight passages in a book while I’m reading. I might make a quick note for my review that a certain sentence popped out at me and what it made me feel at that moment or how Staci broke me with Charlie and his children. However, I found myself highlighting nearly half the book! Lol I feel like there are a ton of “ah ha” moments in life... we just have to be open and wise to them. I think this was Charlie’s great awakening: “In the span of a few heartbeats, she’d knocked the rust off me, my gears creaking and groaning to life at the mere sight of her.”

I found myself having a complete girl crush on this Dutch speaking cheese-snob, named Hannah!!! Not only did she open up Charlie and his family but she awoke the dormant passions in herself as well. This isn’t just some naughty single dad falls for the nanny book. This is a story about finding yourself. It’s about having the strength to fix yourself when you don’t like what you see in the mirror. It’s about opening yourself up to others and allowing yourself to trust and live again. Most of all though, this is a story about family and about forgiveness. Forgiving others, but mostly, forgiving yourself for not being as perfect as you think you should be. It’s about loving your family and accepting their love for you. Taking them as they are and giving yourself as you are!

Another beautiful story from Staci Hart... teaching us all how to live with “Hart” one page at a time. The story line could not have been more interesting. The people were real and incredibly relatable. The children were precious and added a wonderful humor to this somewhat heartbreaking, yet fulfilling novel. I completely loved this story and am jealous of all of you out there that haven’t read it yet... you get to experience A Little Too Late for the first time! Grab a box of tissues and some cheese and wine... believe me you’ll crave the cheese but you’ll need the wine and tissues!!!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
