Excerpt
I pull her into me, trying to put her, me, our life back together with my embrace. Her arms find my waist, and I hold her in the middle of the driveway, swaying back and forth in a moment I’ll never, ever forget. The feeling of my world careening back into focus, into the places it should be, nearly drops me to my knees with my girl in my arms.
“I should go in,” she says, looking up at me.
“It’s cold in there.”
She shrugs and I see her start to slip away from me again. Frantic, I struggle to find a way to stop it.
“Let’s go for a drive,” I suggest.
She looks at me warily.
“It’s just a drive,” I promise. “The house can warm up and then I’ll drop you back off, if that’s what you want. What can it hurt?”
“You won’t try to make out with me or anything, right?” she teases. “Because I know that look in your eye, Tyler Whitt.”
“Only if you ask,” I wink, opening the door to my truck and watching her climb in. Before I shut it, I lean in and whisper into her ear. “Hey, E.”
“Yeah?”
“I should go in,” she says, looking up at me.
“It’s cold in there.”
She shrugs and I see her start to slip away from me again. Frantic, I struggle to find a way to stop it.

I feel like I say this a lot,
especially over the last 8 months since diving head first into the Indie book
world and starting my own blog, Next Book Review, Adriane Locke is a new to-me
author and I feel like I started at the top with her. I’m just not sure how she
could get any better and I’m certainly curious of her other books after this
kick ass one!
So Written in the Scars isn't
just another romance novel. This is a story of your average Joe or Jane, this
is completely relatable. It’s real, raw, and just so damn full of the feels!!!
This book pretty much starts in reverse order; we get a married couple and a
group of friends, family.
If anything this book is not
the “escape from my life” romance you might be looking for but do NOT let that put you off. This book
will do more to you than those perfect romances. This is real life right here.
It shows us how to live, how life is scary and hard. It isn’t always easy and
we fight through and get bruised, bumped, and, of course, scarred. This is about family and how they live with
us and share our love, our pain, they share our journey. This is about being
there for those you love.
We have Ty and Elin working through their marriage problems,
those things that happen to all of us. This is why this book is so completely
relatable. You’re like… oh I remember when that happened with me and Don… its
real life. This is not that sugar-filled romance with floating hearts… IT IS SO MUCH BETTER!! This could be
yours, mine, or our relationship… it’s anyone’s life and that’s what makes it
so friggin’ amazing!

OK, I’m going to stop… I feel like I could review this book
4ever and really just talk in circles. Read it, you WILL be glad you did. You
won’t regret it. It’s amazing. It’s real. Do it!!!
