"I'll sleep down here. You take the bed."

My body is warm and tingling. A sensation that only alcohol can produce. I feel great but this is the longest staircase in existence. We make it to the top and nearly stumble into his room.

"What?" I ask, drawing out the end of the word. "What do you think will happen?" He’s just about to open the closet door but turns when he hears me. His face is flushed, his eyes hazy, and he's swaying a bit, but he regards me without speaking right away so I continue my teasing. "You think I'm going to bite?"

"No, but I might."

"What?"

"Alcohol," he mumbles, shaking his head.

What did he just say? A heat rolls down my body and I know I should let it go. We're both drunk and he's probably just talking but my curiosity and a bit of liquid courage push me forward.

"What did you say?" I step in front of him and grab his arms, not missing how hard his muscles feel under my touch. His head is tilted downward, eyes fixed on where I'm touching him.

Slowly, he brings his gaze to mine, his breathing becoming rhythmic and deep as his eyes darken. A look I've never seen from him before. It makes my pulse race.

I exhale and his eyes drop to my parted lips, causing me to look at his. My God. Is he about to kiss me? Please be about to kiss me.

"Happy people freaked me out.

Can we just pretend this entire review shows various ways my brain exploded while reading Splinters of You? I feel like every chapter I was either sitting there mouth agape with tiny explosions going off in my brain or I was laughing insanely hard (feeling slightly wrong about laughing at the context in Anne Malcom's upcoming release). I've met a lot of brutally blunt honest people, it is actually something I think the world could use more of. Magnolia Grace is extreme in her brutal honesty. You both love that about her and want to know more or you're too busy staring at the train wreck to notice anything else happening around you!

Anne Malcom uses her words like a tool of utter chaos and mental warfare. I don't think I recall another time where an author has given us an anti-heroine such as this one. And Magnolia Grace was just that. You love that you hate her and you hate loving her. What's really awesome about Magnolia Grace is she is well aware of her faults and she accepts herself. She might not like herself but she knows who she is and she doesn't hide it.

I've been reading Anne Malcom's books obsessively since her very first series. All of her books have a theme, one of love, of a couple who come together during their worst and bring out the best in each other. Splinters of You does not follow that theme. This feels like a book where she opened up her rib cage for us all to see what she's made of! She's full of passion and dreams, an obsession with the eloquent words released from her soul!! Every single time I read her I'm in awe of the poetic way she creates the worlds in her mind.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

This was one of JD Hollyfield's most balanced books yet. Honestly, looking at that cover you're going to expect a romantic comedy, I know I did. However, it was really more suspenseful than I expected. I was really intrigued with the writing and the entire execution of the story. I was just delighted with Hannah. She’s a strong, no-nonsense character that isn't scared to stand up for herself. Levi really didn't want to succumb to his growing feelings and attraction. His best friend is Hannah's brother so this really adds a layer for Levi the he isn't loving... but he can't seem to resist... and Hannah doesn't want to resist.

Now there is kind of a part 1 and part 2... it's kind of like the book veers off and goes on a separate but connected storyline. It isn't quite expected but I didn't mind it. I felt as though it pulled me back in and I got a fresh story with characters I was becoming fond of. But I'd go in knowing that it almost feels like 2 separate books combined... if that makes sense! I just love the way JD Hollyfield writes though! Her books are fun and charming, sweet and carefree. There's always banter and humor. The characters were likeable. As always, JD Hollyfield gave me an enjoyable book that I read way too quickly!! If only my favorites could write as quickly as I read them!! Ha! Every book lovers dream, right?!?!
