Book Blurb:

Two sisters. One unsolved murder. A sickening plot for revenge.

When Mackenzie Wright attends her first real high school party, held somewhere deep in the woods of her small California town, no one expects to wake up the next morning to news of a gruesome murder. Especially not her own sister’s.

No suspects.

No motive.

No convictions.

Just one unsolved murder and whatever’s left of the now deserted town.

Mackenzie has spent years with her sister’s death weighing heavily on her shoulders, but it isn’t until she stumbles across a photograph that changes everything for her. The memories, everything from that night, come flashing back in high-speed technicolor and Mackenzie soon finds herself obsessed with the truth.

Determined to find out what really happened to her sister, Mackenzie relies on that one photograph to give her the answers she needs by embedding herself into the lives of five of the wealthiest men in Los Angeles. Consumed by her need for revenge, Mackenzie infiltrates the world of the rich and elite, only to come face-to-face with an alluring complication in the form an elusive playboy.

When enemy lines are drawn, Mackenzie has to choose between her loyalty to her sister and the man who has stolen her heart.

BLURB

Love changes people.

I’m the first to admit that I, Keaton Bridges, used to be an immature, entitled ass.

Okay, maybe I’m the second to admit it—after Roxy Carter.

That loudmouth.

But I’ve seen what true love has done for my friends, and I want it for myself.

Somehow, I’m the only single guy left.

Somehow, she’s the only single girl.

The only time Foxy Roxy hasn’t been a loudmouth?

That time we were making out at our best friends’ wedding.

And every time we’ve seen each other in the five years since then,

because she refuses to talk about it.

Well, she’s going to have to talk to me now.

It’s the dead of winter, and our six best friends were planning a getaway

at a Caribbean couples-only resort.

One of the couples had to drop out, and I refuse to be left out in the cold.

All Roxy and I have to do is pretend to be in love for one week so we can

spend some much-needed time with our favorite people.

And all I have to do is pretend I’m not dying to kiss her again.

Please note that this is a complete standalone story, but it includes crossover characters from Tonight You're Mine and Come Back to Bed.

I just loved this storyline!! Keaton and Roxy are single but want to hang with their couple friends at a couples-only resort. They decide to "team up" so they can go to the resort too. However, faking a relationship isn't as hard for them as they thought. Keaton and Roxy have chemistry. Now Keaton is just THE swooniest! Roxy is definitely a bit of an acquired taste but I found her to be funny and a bit crazy.

Really, Kayley Loring, I am just LOVING your audiobooks! They're fun and light but packed with heat and sexual tension. I just couldn't help but to devour this within a day of downloading it! Miss Loring created a super carefree story with a ton of humor and heat... so much heat between Keaton and Roxy. I know the narrators had a lot of do with the light and casual feeling from the Plus Ones. Teddy Hamilton did great at making Keaton seem just as he seems... fun, light-hearted and seriously into Roxy. I really like Mackenzie Cartwright. Her voice is just lovely and I found her to be enjoyable to listen to. She's also tad of an attitude and honesty I liked the bit of role reversal.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Before writing steamy romantic comedy novels, Kayley Loring got a BFA in creative writing from a Canadian university and had a fifteen-year career as a screenwriter in Los Angeles (under a different name). She mostly wrote PG-13 family comedies that studios would pay her lots of money for and then never make into movies. In 2017 she decided to move to the Pacific Northwest and write about all the fun stuff that she wasn't allowed to write about in those PG-13 scripts. Now she’s breathing cleaner air and writing dirtier words. It’s an adjustment she’s happily getting used to.

HALLOWEEN SPECIAL: Edison Beaker: Creature Seeker by Frank Cammuso

I have to say, The Night Door, was an extremely pleasant surprise. It begins with Edison being scared of the dark… or not the dark per say but what’s IN the dark. This is something I appreciate as it has been something my 10-year old has struggled with for the last few years. I thought this was a fun way to teach valuable lessons. The graphic novels seem to lighten up reading and make pictures more of the focus, something my daughter loves way more than the actual reading. The drawings are bright and fun.

I really enjoyed this in The Night Door, but it’s really pronounced in The Lost City the siblings are close and seem to tolerate each other quite well. I like the way Tesla looks up to Edison and how he seems to take care of her. I found myself laughing throughout this story. The antics from the characters are adorable and I found myself laughing quite a bit while being charmed by them all!

For this tour, I wanted to choose 10 similar-themed movies. Something bright and fun that will make you laugh
but is also appropriate for ages 8 an older.

1) THE ADDAMS FAMILY

2) BEETLEJUICE

3)  THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

 4) HOCUS POCUS

I keep thinking about how the brother and sister team in this movie is so similar to what happens with The Lost City. Tesla and Edison are so close.

5) GOOSEBUMPS

6) MONSTER HOUSE

7)    SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK

This one might actually be scary to some, so be sure to tred carefully here!

The next 3 are offered on Netflix!

8)   THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES - Netflix

The house is a home to a magical alternative universe!
Closely relates to these adorable books!

9)   MOSTLY GHOSTLY  - Netflix

10) CARLOLINE - Netflix

After moving into a new home, Coraline discovers an strange world that seems like a dream—but it turns out to be an absolute nightmare...
again, how cute is this?! It gives Edison Beaker vibes!

Thank you to, Penguin Random House
for these Wicked Reads this Halloween!
